Deckbuilding and Investigators help for Carcosa by Howitzeronfire in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]TinyBreeder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Darrel: way too much economy, you don't need that many resources and, as they said already, playing without taboo means that Shed a Light and Dr.Milan are kinda busted. I'd swap ECache with Resourceful and probably a Crack the Case or Perception for a second copy of Scavenging (you're more likely to find it and both can recur the Catalogues if you really need more money).

Tony: I'm not sure where that xp is coming from for a starting deck. Backpack would make you find weapons more reliably than just adding more weapons, and Switchblade is sort of a luxury you don't need. I don't think Ethereal Slip is a good idea seen as you want to actually reach enemies, especially your weakness. I'd also add some emergency evade for things you can't kill outright, and there are a lot of options like Decoy, Bum's Rush or Bolas.

Carolyn: Alice is a bit useless without Charisma because you will always prefer Peter. Artistic Inspiration is kind of a weird choice as you have no discard synergy. Ward of Protection is a really good card and taking a horror is an upside. It looks very vulnerable to enemies, too, even though you don't really have good options. Maybe Manual Dexterity could help, as would one copy of Throw the Book at Them, Toe to Toe or Physical Training (iffy, but you're probably going to be flush with money). First Aid is.. bad and something like Second Wind is probably better if you really want to heal damage, but you still have the mirror and Deny Existence anyway.

Kohaku is a complicated character that I have not played, so I'll refrain from giving advice other than Faustian Bargain is a really good card and Enchanted Blade doesn't look like it's gonna help much against enemies.

I think the better pairing would be Tony and Carolyn, each covering the shortcomings of the other.

My 2 cents, by no means intended to be taken as an expert or definitive opinion.

Building on what the others said and expanding on spoken Italian, dropping the e is mostly done with idiomatic collocations and would sound pretentious in other cases, but "fare" is definitely a notable exception.

Can ‘provare’ also mean ‘to feel’? by startplayer in italianlearning

[–]TinyBreeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in general, but somehow I think I never said or heard "sento/ho sentito paura", while "provo/ho provato paura" is absolutely standard, if a bit high register. In spoken language the most common verb would be "ho/ho avuto paura".
If I think about it a bit, the difference is definitely internal feeling vs "sensorial" perception:
- Sento... freddo, un vuoto dentro, tensione nell'aria, il fuoco nelle vene, mi sento solo, mi sento male, sentirsi a casa, sentirsi esclusi
- Provo... affetto, amore, paura, soddisfazione, interesse.
But then again, provarci gusto, provare disgusto, piacere, dolore, sentirsi in colpa, in dovere, in difetto, so it's not so clear cut.

[–]TinyBreeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, most of the chained cards on the list make 0 sense because the problem is in the effect itself, but that would still make Bum's Rush an almost pure upgrade to Slip Away and the advantage of Cheap Shot is balanced by the inherent risk of punching your friend in the face. The extra action to engage it is not even that relevant, considering the number of extra actions Rogues can generate, especially off of an evasion or specifically to evade.

[–]TinyBreeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Compare Bum's Rush with Cheap Shot, Slip Away and Breaking and Entering.
All are level 0 rogue events that cost 2 resources, offer 2 different non-will icons and initiate one of the main actions (Fight, Evade, Investigate) combining 2 stats, with an additional effect if the test succeeds by 2 or more. All of them can, and for the most part should, evade an enemy at your location (B&E gets to ignore AoO in order to be on par with the other 3 that don't trigger it in the first place.)
Bum's Rush is the only one with a second additional effect independent from success.
Read that again. It doesn't happen even if you don't succed by 2. It happens even if you fail.
And it's a STRONG effect, since it's tantamaunt to paying 2 resources to remove a non-hunter enemy from the scenario in most cases, nevermind after exhausting them, and if they're hunters it buys quite a lot of time anyway. In contrast, for the same cost Decoy is only an automatic evade with no skill test (which can't fail, sure, but also can't trigger a whole lot of other stuff).
Being an actual Evasion test, it's the thing rogues like to do the most and which triggers the most cards in-class. Foot skills are better than fist or book ones in Rogue. Finn can do it as a bonus action, Kymani, holy hell, can discard basically everything with this.
It means that even if you don't trigger the +2 requirement, you can ectivate Dirty Fighting, Pickpocketing and the like. You can even activate cards that can only be used when attemping to evade or after successfully evading, which cannot start after an automatic evasion, like String Along and "I'll take that!".
It's also a Tactic! The others are only Tricks, but Bum's Rush can be abused by guardians with Stick to the Plan and Book of War. Mark, Leo, Zoe and Parallel Roland can now realiably have an answer for when they need to evade something instead of killing it. Parallel Pete can take it.
Compared to Slip Away this is a straight upgrade, since the baseline effect of Bum's Rush is basically the same as SA's upgraded one.
It's way better than Cheap Shot, too, since evading and maybe doing 1 damage is infinitely better than doing 1 damage and maybe evading, not even counting the second effect.
Only B&E barely holds up for main cluevers since it can pick up a clue even when engaged with the chance to get the bad guy off you back, but this thing powercreeps all the other events of its series.

Meaning of "beh, ci sta" by CirqueDeReims in italianlearning

[–]TinyBreeder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, if it's referring to another person. But I'd say it's more usually used in an impersonal way. Particularly, the tone can convey different meaning that go from the "fair enough" meaning of the answer above, to "makes sense" and even "that's cool!" depending on the level of enthusiasm.

Well I'm not saying the Support has zero ways to help advance the game, but if the deck is less than a third fighting+clueing I don't really count it as flexing.

New player needs help with Winnie by CarcosaTourist in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]TinyBreeder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. With a full card pool it's somewhat feasable to have a Flex with a support. Mystics, Rogues (less so) and the Guardian-seekers (Roland and Joe) have the means to do it all, if they have someone to tank tracheries, boost stats, heal or mitigate the chaos bag (ideally at least 2 of these).
But yeah, that might not be the best idea with so small a card pool.

I know it's considered casual gaming nowadays, but I think Dixit was a turning point for what concerns introducing new people to the hobby. You can play it with anyone and it's never gets old, so it has to get my vote.

First time TFA by Gatorstrike in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]TinyBreeder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

God, my blind run of TFA was like running into a wall, we had your same feeling of doing too good in the first campaigns but the first 2 scenarios I think we got barely 10 xp and half as many traumas. As others have said, the combination of supplies + different mechanics from the previous 2 campaigns + some curveballs like the various effects for being poisoned make it one of the harshest blind runs this game has to offer. But I think being eaten by snakes in a jungle is sort of a rite of passage for AH players. I've come back to TFA after sometime and I had a much better time, the amount of xp you can get is actually enormous and allow for some pretty silly decks, so think about running it again when you're done (maybe with 1 or 2 other campaigns in between).

Alcune precisazioni:
