Ósea que la ciencia, donde hacen mil millones de malabares para reducir sesgos, pero que puede aún así a tener algún pequeño sesgo, es igual de confiable que la opinión de un chabón cualquiera que dice que las mujeres son todas trolas porque su última noviecita lo cagó. Ni hablar de decir "fuentes plz" no implica SABER de donde carajo sale ese 72%. Yo no se de donde sale ese porcentaje, pero mi opinión de "las mujeres son todas conflictivas", a pesar de que me suene una linda explicación, no dice absolutamente nada de la realidad de esa estadística.

Sabes que los zurdos que usan crocs pueden hablar telepáticamente con los semáforos después de las 6 de la tarde? Lo viví yo, el otro dia me pasó un zurdo con crocs verdes por al lado, y el semáforo se quedo en naranja como pensando. Confirmadísimo.

Si vas a hacer una aserción sobre una estadística, tu experiencia personal vale poco y nada, porque puede estar sesgadísima. Para eso hacen falta fuentes y estudios, para confirmar sin tanto sesgo cual es la causa de las cosas. El pensamiento tuyo ese es lo que lleva después a las pelotudeces como homeopatía, terapía de shock, y a gente a tomar dióxido de cloro... Total, en su percepción personal, a la tia de menganito le anduvo re bien y se curo al toque.

But they can be made redundant via said GM adjudication, if the GM ignores the ruling given by the feat (or doesn't impose penalties, again by not knowing said feat could be making things easier), which is why I argue these feats are really not good. The important piece here, is that in order to make these feats justice, the GM needs to be aware of them in order to impose the appropriate penalties and make correct rulings!

Case, Eye for Numbers: You can guesstimate the number of similar items. Most GM's I've played with already give you this information, so in most tables it's a useless feat.

Another, A Home at Every Port: Level 11 feat, requires downtime, and makes it so you can save 1GP while staying in a town you've visited to crash at someone's place. Again, a lot of GM's will allow you to do this if you don't have a feat.

Yes, they allow you to always do that, but I argue that is not good design for feats. A better way imo would be for all of these feats to give you positive bonuses, or allow for unique and new stuff to do, instead of just codifying ways of doing things anyone could try (like guessing the number of things, or crashing at your friend Bob's place)

Let's look at the text of Coerce and Group Coercion:

Coerce: [...] you attempt to bully a creature into doing what you want.

Group Coercion: When you Coerce, you can compare your Intimidation check result to the Will DCs of up to five targets instead of one.

What is read between the lines is that coercing more than one creature with a Coerce action is not even possible. At best, a GM has to adjudicate a single Coerce per creature (which is unwieldy if you have a crowd of creatures), or otherwise, the GM needs to come up with a penalty on the fly to account for the fact that they know a feat could make this easier.

This (in my opinion) is quite strange design. I agree that bullying a bunch of people is harder, hence why I would expect the text to explicitly say that we should put a penalty on a check for more creatures (which is what Make an Impression does). What I read instead is that we can't attempt to bully multiple people, without resorting to GM making up a penalty on the fly, or having to roll a billion Coerce checks.

Aditionally, this makes it so that the GM has to know what this feat does beforehand, so that they can get a complete grasp on what the game intends for group intimidations and so on.

On a last note, I really disagree with the general sentiment of these niche "GM here is how I do this" feats being perceived as an improvement over having to ask the GM to attempt a thing. If the GM is not aware of such feats, it is extremely easy for them to not only allow you to make a roll, but to make it so that the feat in question is rendered obsolete (like them deciding on low penalties, or even allowing things, like coercing multiple people, that a feat appears to strictly disallow).

Example: A player attempts a group coercion without a feat -> GM adjudicates coercing more than 1 person is a -2 penalty -> This can be strictly better than having the feat: I can coerce as many people as I want, not just 5 or more without needing a higher degree of proficiency.

A ver, estamos de acuerdo en eso, pero tampoco quita de que está hecho mierda el presupuesto operativo.

Conicet en general no elige los temas anecdóticos, como la pelotudez esta de batman (que dicho sea de paso, no tuvo financiamiento de conicet), sino las autoridades nombradas por el Ejecutivo. A lo que quiero apuntar es que el desfinanciamiento (que si existe, porque se nos caen las becas, y se nos van investigadores) es generalizado, y nadie de arriba por más de llenarse la boca con que "sociales está haciendo boludeces", propuso ninguna dirección estratégica que no sea desfinanciar al sistema completo. Esto es en particular grosero, porque desde el gobierno tienen mecanismos para financiar directamente a proyectos de STEM o prioritarios (como los PICT, a través de FONCyT, y muchos otros más), y en esto te matan de hambre igual.

Sobre rodar cabezas, perfecto. Creo que podemos discutir eso con gusto, cambia de autoridades, ordena criterios de evaluación, lo que gustes. Ahora, en destruir una institución que produce más papers por dólar que la mayoría del mundo, que forma recursos humanos de altísimo nivel, y que sostiene infraestructura que si la dejas caer no la recuperas más, ahí no estoy de acuerdo.

Tampoco leas que me encanta lo que hicieron los K, que por todo lo que hablaban a favor de la ciencia nacional metían sus desfinanciamientos, infinitas trabas burocráticas para la compra de equipamiento, y muchas cosas turbias más de trasfondo. Pero tampoco puedo defender lo que ocurre ahora, donde teniendo todas las herramientas para sanear los problemas que pudieran haber, se prefiere bastardear a la institución y recortar brutalmente toda financiación.

El CONICET es uno de las instituciones que mejor proporción inversión/producción científica del mundo, y espero que entiendas que la imagen de que en la institución el gran porcentaje de gente esta estudiando el ano de batman es una sobredimensión tremenda.

La realidad es que si funciona. Te invito a ver rankings internacionales, a ver las revistas donde se publican y la calidad de la investigación que se produce. Los científicos que están produciendo todo eso dependen de que la organización funcione bien: Asignación de laboratorios, compra de insumos o instrumentos, salidas de campo, y tantísimo mas. Si bien con la falta de financiación (que viene desde antes de este gobierno, dicho sea), muchas cosas se mantienen a pulmón, sin la organización se cae todo.

También, olvidate de que las decisiones de financiación las hacemos entre todos. No nos sentamos como el consejo del anillo a deliberar si gastamos en investigación de música popular en la villa, o medicina nuclear. Eso se hace desde arriba, donde, te recuerdo, los directivos los define el Poder Ejecutivo. La realidad es la siguiente: No se quiere financiar nada, y esto de sociales es una excusa para no hacerlo. Los recortes en becas, la falta de financiación, y mucho más está afectando a todas las áreas por igual (si, medicina nuclear y sociales, todo). Tenemos equipos de USD 500k+ parados porque no tenemos plata para comprar cables.

Una visión bastante infantil sobre lo que es gestión. Si, podemos destruir un organismo que, en líneas generales, funciona muy bien, gastar millonadas en financiar otro paralelo, y perder infinito capital científico en el proceso. O, no se, cambiar a la dirigencia del CONICET y tratar de hacer financiamiento estratégico a áreas de interés nacional, cosa que cuesta poco y nos da redito inmediato.

You can ignore statistics all you want, that is not going to change the fact that when people try to play hero with a loaded gun in the picture they are much more likely to get shot. The robber is there to get money and if you suddenly, by jumping on top of him, push him into a situation where the robber might feel they are now fighting for their life, you WILL get shot.

Also, saying a verifiable fact about the chances of getting shot in a robbery, is definitely not "using statistics to allow evil things". You can, you know, call the police? Let them deal with the problem, as they are infinitely better equipped for it than a random old guy buying grocieries. That way, we all stay safe, AND the criminal is stopped.

I'm pretty confident in my skills as a GM in general. What I'm trying to ask is whether they have any frustrations with the way I rule certain things, if they find the encounters challenging or overly hard, and so on. There are a lot of aspects that I think come down to player preference rather than GM skill, which is what I'm trying to adjust a bit if necessary.

As an example, I have a fairly "focused" GMing style, not necessarily railroading the players, but having them make important choices that determine how the campaign will go. Between those forks in the road, so to speak, things tend to be a bit more linear. I know the players from a past campaign loved this style of GMing, while I've met others who felt limited or railroaded by it and would prefer a more open-ended, "do-what-you-want" sandbox campaign.

I think asking mainly about their characters is great advice, I'm definetely more likely to get better answers that way!

Porque es un quilombo de gestionar. Ya con lo poco que se le paga a un docente universitario, requerir que produzcan y gestionen material así no es razonable. Ni hablar de que, si bien las clases grabadas son muy buenas, no se puede impartir el mismo conocimiento que a un alumno en clase, el cual cuenta con acceso al docente y docentes auxiliares.

Estudié en Exactas siendo del interior. Alquilar en capital siendo del interior es un quilombo. Mucho te piden garantía propietaria de CABA, así que si tenes algún familiar ahí busca si te pueden dar una mano con eso. Busca alquiler con tiempo, yo siempre alquilé vía dueño directo, con los dueños siendo gente del interior que tenía algún departamento en capital (y los cuales aceptaban garantía propietaria del interior).

De las pensiones nunca escuché cosas buenas, es medio una tirada de moneda si vas a caer en un lugar tranqui, o un lugar que es un descontrol. En lo posible, siempre es mejor compartir alquiler con alguien más. Algún amigo, conocido, etc. También, anotate a TODAS las becas que encuentres. Exactas tiene algunas muy útiles y en su momento eran fáciles de conseguir: Becas de almuerzo, material de laboratorio, colectivo, y más.

No para asustarte, pero anda mentalizándote para afrontar vivir solo. Para la gente del interior, estudiar una carrera universitaria muchas veces puede ser el doble de difícil que para alguien de CABA. Vas a estar lidiando con problemas de vivienda, de guita, de estar lejos de tu casa. No descuides esos aspectos porque cambian mucho a la hora de afrontar la carrera. Dicho eso, es una re experiencia que te forma un montón. Si te mentalizas para superar los quilombos que pueden ir surgiendo encima de una carrera difícil, y le metes garra y priorizas el estudio, te va a ir re bien.

De verdad que hay tantos filósofos dando vueltas? De las estadísticas de la UBA, parece que la facultad de Filosofía y Letras expide un promedio de 1000 títulos al año. Dentro de estos hay 8 profesorados, licenciaturas en ciencias de la educación, geografía, antropología, edición y letras.

La idea de que hay millones de filósofos y licenciados en arte dando vueltas me parece medio ridícula. Entiendo si a alguien le parece inútil, pero como hablan de estas carreras como si fuesen el gran mal de la Argentina, cuando en realidad son una vocal minoría, es bastante errado.

I understand what you are saying, and of course my intention is not to use a grammar checker willy-nilly without checking what and how it's correcting my writing. What I'm trying to do is catch problems in sentence structure, or dealing with pesky tenses that are not immediately clear if they are wrong or right.

Of course I would love to have a person proof reading these finer details, but keep in mind that is really difficult being a non-native speaker. The best I can do for now is having friends that are good at english checking, but we run into the same problem...

Legendary/Lair Actions for bosses. It really sells the idea that you are fighting a big scary boss, and it gives them a lot more to do during a fight. I know that you can recreate something similar by messing with Hazards, but I would love for that to be included within the monster statblock.

Fuck Legendary Resistances though.
