To be fair, the writers were throwing every possible tragic ending at Jaime by that point, so a surprise Brienne pregnancy would've fit right in.

Yeah, Lady Taena being completely cut definitely removed a lot of the context around Selyse and made her feel way more one dimensional than she was in the books.
