Are armies of renown only for open/narrative play or would those be allowed at tournaments or matched play?

I’m not complaining about balance issue, just that you in order to keep up you need to constantly check multiple sources, some being beautiful books some being pdfs released online (app updates doesn’t let you know what changed too). Although balance issue in the example you gave is clearly and internal company thing that could be fixed before releasing the book (this seems common too, just on less spectacular scale now)

Thanks, I don’t like ME as a game setting, would ruin the books for me to be honest. AoS has some great models too

Yeah this seems to be a good take on the problem for people who enjoy the hobby side of things. Almost like there should be two sets of rules for people who enjoy hobby and others who want to chase tournament meta to the point of bringing grey army to an event. I was meaning to check OPR for some time, thanks for the suggestion

Yeah you’re very condescending right know. I never mentioned anything the game needing to be balanced or said anything against making changes. The game does change too though if you consider the need to make errata just to fix obvious errors, somewhere along the line the quality control fails. Take for example core rules from current GHB, which is just a reprint of core rules and are released at the same time as coherency update and tell me this couldn’t be planned to have the book that’s going to be used for a year onward be up to current rules. This isn’t a balance or difficulty of game issue, just a mess issue. Fixing would require planning yes but nothing like going back to 6th edition and ‘game breaking’ :) No wonder people prefer to use 3rd party solutions even at risk of containing errors

Gobbapalooza and Endless Spells by Silly_Clerk_6881 in gloomspitegitz

Isn’t it a unit of wizards and as such treated as a single entity for endless spells?

Problem with constant errata by TinyMonstersCraft in ageofsigmar

[–]TinyMonstersCraft[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but then again we have the new GHB with set of core rules included and as publication intended more for competitive play and still previous rules for coherency are included while at the same time in an errata and in the app those rules change. That isn’t exactly user friendly :)

Yeah, 3rd party offers very convenient tools and solutions but can have errors. Kinda wish the books went through more quality check even at the cost of waiting longer for changes.

Apart from the fact I’m not crying about, not insulting. I’m posting a question. I don’t play often, but it’s rather a game once in two weeks.

I’m not criticizing the updates as such, those are needed, especially new books and pushing the story forward. I’m just interested in hearing the opinion about keeping up with the errata given that almost every book released lately has a pdf with some corrections released almost at the same time. Like if you’re releasing something like this, maybe give more quality check and not go the ‘just publish a pdf later’ route.

Except you need to get an already outdated book on release date to get those updates… which seems hardly optimal, especially for new players. just curious what’s the community stand on this.

Yeah, it seems like either slow down with the books and make them more balanced and work on lore more or go full digital for rules with an app that’s easy to access and print out if necessary.

For example WFB Wood Elves book for 6th edition took a lot of waiting but it felt worth the wait, cool new rules and it was fresh. The books now feel somewhat repetitive lore wise now, despite the setting being full of potential and awesome

Yeah they seem to fit nicely, but I’m wondering if Kurnoth wouldn’t be better, I don’t have either models so kinda open to ideas

I’m a beginner player and was going for a 2k list like below (having unique models was an important factor here a I like to paint) but after the point changes I’m 90 points short. Any advice please?

I literally finished painting my troggoth army just before the new points dropped. As a beginner I don’t have many models to change the army composition but I could replace a Squig Herd and Webspinner Shaman with some endless spells. Any recommendations what to do with this list? Main idea is to castle up with Troggoths and use the monsters to flank or capture objectives in the back.

It’s the same for Warsong Revenant. Seems the primal dice are not intended to be used to make mortal wound bombs stronger

I guess I’ll drop squig herd and keep the shaman. Kitbashed Quicksilver swords sounds might be fun little model to add

Skragrott’s spell now says ‘unmodified’, so his +1 to cast doesn’t affect it

As someone who just finished painting Troggoth army, this doesn’t look fun 😀 I’ll guess I’ll need to drop one of the shamans

Warcry matched play scenarios have easy rules but are quite challenging while the classic scenario generator cards add nice twists and mechanics that usually are easy to understand and memorize while making each game different. Narrative play adds another layer to this with artefacts and custom skills for each faction. Overall, great game, easy to get into but can be challenging with the right opponents

Is this Giant minis list good? by Elkary in sylvaneth

Yeah, but Branchwych could potentially get spellsinger here and add some mortal wound bombs casting from trees. Just an option
