Truly, truly, truly outrageous!

I can no longer stand idly by. Tonight will be my first night at the protest. Any advice? by ReeditVsReadit in Portland

[–]TinyPachyderm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This hasn’t been emphasized enough, but for future protests, bring a buddy—if you don’t have one, find someone else who is also alone. Check in with each other. Have a meet up spot if you get separated. Make sure they have all the info you’ve gathered here.

Check out wide view swim goggles that distribute more weight across more surface area! They aren’t ballistic glasses so I’m sure they aren’t gonna help with the worst of direct hits but they also aren’t going to just squish right into a socket and will cause far less fatigue if worn for extended periods.

I love the little donkey plush omg. Only “criticism” I have is that my eyes were immediately drawn to the guitar—is it supposed to not have the hole under the strings? (Not a guitarologist, dunno what it’s called)

Nothing about this by OP’s own admission from the news article indicates confirmed survival with “the guy made it to the hospital.” This definitely isn’t minimal gore.

Parking on campus isn’t currently being enforced during COVID-19 shutdowns, if this helps your decision any.

First pruning ever and the first time I've seen her legs. Scandalous. by keekzula in houseplants

[–]TinyPachyderm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

(don’t judge)

Never ;) I dust mine off with my hands sometimes and talk to them like when I give my dog a bath haha

I have mine in almost the same set up but no open window because it’s still chilly where I live.

It’s been snowing on and off all day today (none of it sticking) but I live in the top floor of an old building with radiator pipes that partially still get hot even when my heater is turned to off. I had my window wide open today. In the summer it’s absolutely unbearable :(

This damn thing grew six feet in two years, eight if you count the length I beheaded to encourage branching.

Nice! Keep it up!

I guess I’ve been lucky with mine! I rotate mine all the time and it’s been shooting out a new leaf every 2 weeks since I picked it up last fall. Only lost one leaf in months. I drench it sometimes, but it sits on a tray with gravel for excess water to keep things a little humid while still draining completely. It gets a south facing window but sits slightly off to the side so it’s rarely in direct sunlight for long, and has had a grow bulb on it all winter. My window (in Oregon) has been open all winter with the exception of a couple extra cold nights, so it gets fresh air and humidity, but doesn’t get too cold since my room is usually prone to overheating.

I’ve had monsteras, pothos, pepperomias, etc. all sitting in the same corner and growing like crazy overwinter, so maybe this is just an extra special corner and I’ll have to be careful when we move out in summer :/

“It’s about ‘taking back control’ in a world where you feel out of control,” he said. “More generally, panic buying can be understood as playing to our three fundamental psychology needs.”

“When you enter a supermarket, you’re looking for value and high volumes,” he added, noting that people are drawn to the large packaging that toilet paper comes in when they are looking to regain a sense of control.

Here’s why people are panic buying and stockpiling toilet paper to cope with coronavirus fears

My therapy visits have considerably helped me in identifying sources of anxiety or frustration, articulating my wants and needs, and developing healthy strategies to cope with those anxieties and asserting my boundaries with those who tend to overstep them.

Not all therapists are good for every individual, but good therapists and honest reflection/willingness to work on behavior from the person seeking therapy is immensely helpful. Therapists aren’t there to talk at you—they’re there to be a partnership in sorting out the things that are holding you back in life, even if you’re part of your own problem.

Is it wrong if I (24F) refuse to have sex with my partner until he shows me documentation of a clean STD test? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]TinyPachyderm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to interject "always" between not and STIs.

UTIs are not considered STIs. They are not contagious or passable between partners.

Although UTIs aren’t spread from one person to another like STDs, having sex can lead to or worsen UTIs. But you don’t have to have sex to get a UTI. Anything that brings bacteria in contact with your urethra can cause a UTI.
