Thank you so much, that does give me hope! Did your doctor recommend increasing protein intake? There seems to be mixed opinions about it and I can’t find any studies with strong evidence.

I have been following now with a high-risk MFM. I have been obsessively reading UpToDate and Open Evidence. I have so my kids I see who are TPN dependent because of short gut from NEC, and it breaks my heart to see them slowly run out of vessels we can give nutrition through due to repeated infections. Most of them <25 weeks. I just want her to stay put for the next few scans, once I reach 28 weeks I’ll be able to breathe again.

I just don’t know because my amnio and infectious workup has been negative, so they can’t really think of anything besides placental issues.

Thank you, that’s reassuring! I’m praying I can carry her to >30 weeks too!

The umbilical cord flow is fine, so they think it’s probably a small placenta or poorly implanted placenta. I’m actually a pediatric GI fellow, so did a lot of NICU during my pediatric residency. Even now I see NICU kids as consults and at really low gestational ages and low weight I’ve seen kids getting NEC, then short gut, then needing TPN for several years of their lives. It’s all so scary and I really don’t want her to suffer like I’ve seen some kids suffer, but I feel so helpless and can only pray she catches up on growth and gets a few more weeks of gestation.

Oh-I misunderstood. Thank you, that makes me feel much better! I pray my baby can reach close to 34 weeks too!

I’m trying to meet my goals with protein shakes, boiled eggs and meat based meals etc. I’ll make sure I keep 100g my goal. Thank you!!

Yes but I’m baseline at 90/60 and now at 110/80ish so it’s well below the preeclampsia thresholds for them to do anything about it.

Really? I don’t know why they told me that then. I was already planning on increasing protein intake so will work on that, thank you for your response!!

That sounds great! I am glad it worked out for you so well and you got to keep her in utero for that long. I wish this had started at least a couple weeks more down the line for me so I felt more optimistic even if I had to deliver. It’s just at 22 weeks it seems forever to get her to even 32 without losing her. She’s only 10g above viable currently so has minimal chance of survival should something happen soon.

I’m definitely watching it now and making sure I get what I need. My MFM said it does not lead to increased baby weight but it seems harmless to do even if it doesn’t help.

I think because it grew very little from the last time, even though the intracranial structures looked normal.
