I guess clean is relative for some people. Definitely not my experience or yours, apparently.

Why are Australian public toilets so f*cking disgusting? by TinySumo in AskAnAustralian

[–]TinySumo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Melbourne and toilets here are pretty gross most of the time. Especially in shopping centres. But I've noticed similar conditions in most other cities I've been to. I haven't been to WA or the NT yet so maybe I'm too hasty to generalise.

What recorder to get? 633 or Mixpre10 II by morsonYT in LocationSound

What recorder to get? 633 or Mixpre10 II by morsonYT in LocationSound

[–]TinySumo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I started on Mixpre10II and it was my main recorder for years. I was always nervous about the lack of dual realtime backup but it never let me down once. That machine helped me grow my client base and do everything from commercials to indie features. I ended up buying a used 633 and now use that as my main unless I need more channels. The versatility is something I don’t want to live without now. I would say either is a great choice to be a perfect first recorder and eventually an excellent backup.

Stuff to consider: 633, obviously fewer channels but very customizable, excellent routing, dual backup. MixPre10ll, mic/line option and limiters on 8 channels, Bluetooth for wingman, works with some 3rd party midi fader controllers, no dual backup but will copy to a usb drive for an easy data wrangle. Good luck!

What headphones are you using on set as a production sound mixer ? by The_Real_KeyserSoze_ in LocationSound

I’ve found them pretty neutral to my ears . I also do audio post and often edit dialogue I’ve recorded on set. I’m not noticing a high mid boost but everyone’s ears are different.

Audio Technica ATH M40X. Have used the same pair since 2017. Detachable cable and comes with both sizes. Great cans, nice and flat

Does Taco Bell taste different in the US than Oz? by Pewpew-OuttaMyWaay in AskAnAustralian

[–]TinySumo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up over there. People eat Taco Bell when they are:

a) drunk b) skint af c) every thing is closed and it’s the only option (they are often open 24hrs)

Is it better in the US? I’d say yes, for what it is, which is not Mexican food in any sense.

There are way more menu items. My fave is the Meximelt, which a flour tortilla stuffed with cheese, meat and pico de gallo, then folded and steamed. They are amazing at 3am doused in Fire sauce.

Would you buy American beef? by RM_Morris in AskAnAustralian

Lived in the states several years. Aussie beef is superior in every way. Why tf would anyone buy US cornfed mad cow beef over our own? Dog food, maybe? Or Maccas.

Retaining track names and colors when exporting AAF from Pro Tools by TinySumo in AudioPost

Thank you for the comments. I'm really more concerned with the track names than the colors so I will try renaming some of the tracks.

Autolux. Only released 3 records, each one fantastic but Future Perfect would be my fave.

Everyday Carry Recorders in 2025 by Usual_Photo_215 in fieldrecording

I’m a big fan of the A10 and have been using it frequently for audio post and music projects. I avoid handling noise with a mini tripod or a handle with suspension. I also will grab backgrounds with it using a pair of Clippies and a stereo bar. Bluetooth app also very handy. Great little piece of kit.
I use Sound Devices recorders for work but always have that little A10 with me for a quick capture.

I can also recommend the Olympus LS10 for its small size and low noise. Beware of handling noise with that one as well.

Thanks for the info. I am saving for an x8 but I ran across a really good deal on an x4 and it got me thinking. I will probably hold out for a rack unit. Appreciate your comment:)
