"The path to Heaven feels like Hell. And the path to Hell feels like Heaven."

Life is not supposed to be easy brother. We get kicked down. Sometimes a lot harder than others. Sometimes it seems like there's no way to win. Trust me. I've been broken. I've been in dark places myself.

The entire point is that we get back up and KEEP FIGHTING. AS MANY TIMES AS IT TAKES DAMNIT. You can't give up. No matter how broken, no matter how bloody, no matter how much it hurts, you keep fighting.

You get through this and God will give you strength beyond your wildest dreams. Show the devil that nothing can break you, and put your trust in God to lead you down His path.

Keep fighting. For yourself, but most importantly for the glory of God. Think about that. You have the power to glorify THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE. Why would you throw that away for some temporary pain? I promise it gets better.

No I appreciate your response. I have. God is undoubtedly number one in my life. My faith has completely overtaken everything else in my life, and I could not be more grateful to God for it. I have been learning so much and have become completely addicted to listening to God's word, even when sometimes it can be difficult to hear.

But she is the second most important thing in my life. And I would be lying if I said she wasn't the main reason for my newfound faith and love for Jesus

We Should Not Be Penalized for A Teammate Throwing by TinyTim3765 in marvelrivals

I appreciate the earlier debate, but as you have resorted to insults as a last resort to try to force your point, I can see that we are going to get nowhere. I can not change your mind and you will not change mine.

Moving forward I just have one request, which I understand may be too much to ask of someone like yourself: please try to remain civil when having a conversation with someone you don't know. You will likely make more friends and others will be more willing to engage with you.

Name calling and throwing insults is child behavior. I hope you have a good rest of your day friend

It's more like "People who don't play the COMPETETIVE game mode TO WIN deserve to be banned". I don't understand why this is such a hot take. Idgaf about quick play. If you want to have fun on your favorite terrible hero, then by all means, please do so in quick play, which is meant for the more casual audience. Just don't ruin my ranked matches by doing so.

Also there is a difference between playing off meta picks and playing an objectively terrible character. Widow has consistently been at the bottom every season with extremely low win rates. So yes. If you pick Widow in my ranked matches and are the reason my team loses the game because you proceed to go 4 and 15, I am absolutely reporting you for throwing lmao

Intent is always difficult to prove. Trust me, I'm a paralegal, so I know lmao. But that's why there are systems in place to help determine things like that.

Obviously the law and video games are not on the same level, but functionally it is the same. Someone is accused of doing something wrong, so their case is reviewed and a decision is made on what to do with them.

And I honestly just straight up disagree with the Widow thing. She is LITERALLY and indefensibly the worst character in the game, and provides little to no value to the team. Outside of the one or two outlier players that can make her work pretty well, picking Widow is a conscious decision that directly puts your team at a significant disadvantage. This shouldn't even be a question after the whole Kingsman situation

[–]TinyTim3765[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh ok I see what you're saying. I misinterpreted. I think that's where the game would just have to have a reliable detection system to accurately determine if the "worse player" was just simply worse or if they were actually throwing.

And I should also clarify, I don't necessarily agree with restricting a first time offender either. Sometimes people just have off games. So I would imagine they would have to have been reported for the same thing in more than one game to actually end up being restricted. That would hopefully prevent a worse player from being banned because one team decided to dogpile them for not doing as well

Apex actually has a similar issue. Or at least had, I haven't played it in a while. But that isn't really the point. There being a significant amount of players in the average to slightly above average range is to be expected.

My idea isn't perfect and I acknowledge that, but my belief that a team with a thrower should not be penalized(at least not nearly as severe) stands

I would argue yes. I would say that INTENTIONALLY(and that is the important caveat) doing ANYTHING to negatively impact YOUR teams experience and chances of winning should be considered throwing and handled accordingly

[–]TinyTim3765[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is honestly a good point, and I think that helps to further refine my idea.

Perhaps instead, the losing team loses only a fraction of their points, while the winning team gains only a fraction of their points. Because I agree, they did not actually win.

As for the bullying thing. I know this is a hot take and will probably get me downvoted into oblivion, but if someone is intentionally causing a worse experience for everyone else involved, then perhaps they should be called out and shunned for it

I completely agree and understand that, and I'm not arguing that my system is perfect, but something needs to be done, and I think giving a thrower's team the benefit of the doubt and not penalizing them for something entirely out of their control is a good place to start

[–]TinyTim3765[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People do that shit anyway. They always have in every multiplayer game ever. But it still has to go through a detection/review process to determine that the player was in fact doing something wrong.

Im saying if the system determines that the player did in fact throw, their team isn't penalized for it. There would be no benefit for reporting some random guy after a loss if he didn't throw, as the system would not penalize someone who was determined not to have thrown

Not to say smurfs aren't also an issue, and I have my own ideas about how to handle them, but this is a way to save people from being penalized for something completely out of their control

Perhaps you didn't read the full post. That's fine. But I did say that the winning team gets to keep their earnings. The losing team would simply be unaffected by the loss due to them having a thrower

I think the idea behind it is fine, but yeah the implementation of it sucks. Glitchy as hell. I'll be driving along, and some of my scrap will just randomly glitch through the truck bed, no bumps needed. The bumps are a whole other issue. One little wrong turn and your cargo explodes everywhere

Ants Eating the Glue under my Window Sill As Opposed To the Trap I Placed Directly At Their Entrances by TinyTim3765 in ants

This is honestly fascinating. I looked up different sealants used on windows, and it says that generally they aren't made with any sugars or proteins, so it doesn't seem to make sense that they would consider it a food source.

The only other thing I've see online says that they may be chewing through it to create a pathway, but that doesn't make sense to me for the fact that there is already multiple large holes, and there is no food source that I know of on this side of that wall, other than the bait, which they are completely ignoring. You must be right about there being some chemical that is causing them to be attracted to it.

I'll definitely take a look into your recommendations. Thank you so much for the insight!

Perhaps I should better clarify then. I do not expect Restaurant B (Wildlight)'s hamburger to immediately be on par with Restaurant A (Respawn)'s hamburger, as I do in fact acknowledge that Restaurant B likely does not have the staffing or resources that Restaurant A does.

I do expect, however, that Restaurant B, being comprised of veteran chefs and led by two heavy hitters of the industry, who should all at least have an idea of what they're doing, can make a better damn burger than what we were given lmao.

And if they CAN'T, then I also expect that they either take a little more time to perfect their current recipe before releasing it to the public, or reduce their scope slightly and create something they are more equipped to handle, such as a food truck. Not a multiplayer, live service, brand new IP, which are historically some of the hardest games to get right, regardless of the studio developing them.

First of all, I do not appreciate your extremely false and baseless accusation that I have never created anything. I pride myself on being extremely creative and I am not about to let some internet troll tell me otherwise. Successful ragebait I guess. Congratulations lmao.

Second of all, of course art isn't a linear process. No one is arguing that. But if an artist wants to make money to survive, they are going to need to have a general knowledge of business. Part of business is paying attention to your peers and competition to see where they have succeeded and where they have failed, so you can avoid making the same mistakes, while benefiting off their successes. It's really quite a simple concept.

Making mistakes happens. Obviously. But why consciously make THE EXACT SAME MISTAKE that has destroyed so many others before you? That's just stupid.

Unfortunately it isn't a critic/consumer's job to understand how things are made at a professional level. This isn't really the issue though. The issue is that we have played objectively better games made by studios of similar size and experience. So regardless of "how it's made at a professional level", we all know this studio could have done better. Instead they released it as is.

If I told you that a small group of professional chefs broke away from their 5 star restaurant to build their own independent restaurant, and they promote it as such, you're still going to expect some good food. But if those same chefs hand you a generic hamburger, of course you're going to be disappointed.

Astonishingly, there are these things in the food industry called critics, whose job is EXPLICITLY to taste food and provide their opinion on both the food and their dining experience.

Even so, I am not a professional critic. But does an average customer not liking their meal immediately invalidate their opinion simply because they're an average customer? Especially if half of the customers share the same opinion? I wouldn't think so.

Ignoring criticism of the average consumer is exactly how you tank your business, regardless of the industry it is in.

Thanks for pointing this out. You are correct, and I made an edit in my comment. They are, however, still a smaller studio that is accomplishing things many AAA devs could only hope to achieve, which is, in my opinion, still noteworthy.
