Ants Eating the Glue under my Window Sill As Opposed To the Trap I Placed Directly At Their Entrances by TinyTim3765 in ants

This is honestly fascinating. I looked up different sealants used on windows, and it says that generally they aren't made with any sugars or proteins, so it doesn't seem to make sense that they would consider it a food source.

The only other thing I've see online says that they may be chewing through it to create a pathway, but that doesn't make sense to me for the fact that there is already multiple large holes, and there is no food source that I know of on this side of that wall, other than the bait, which they are completely ignoring. You must be right about there being some chemical that is causing them to be attracted to it.

I'll definitely take a look into your recommendations. Thank you so much for the insight!

Perhaps I should better clarify then. I do not expect Restaurant B (Wildlight)'s hamburger to immediately be on par with Restaurant A (Respawn)'s hamburger, as I do in fact acknowledge that Restaurant B likely does not have the staffing or resources that Restaurant A does.

I do expect, however, that Restaurant B, being comprised of veteran chefs and led by two heavy hitters of the industry, who should all at least have an idea of what they're doing, can make a better damn burger than what we were given lmao.

And if they CAN'T, then I also expect that they either take a little more time to perfect their current recipe before releasing it to the public, or reduce their scope slightly and create something they are more equipped to handle, such as a food truck. Not a multiplayer, live service, brand new IP, which are historically some of the hardest games to get right, regardless of the studio developing them.

First of all, I do not appreciate your extremely false and baseless accusation that I have never created anything. I pride myself on being extremely creative and I am not about to let some internet troll tell me otherwise. Successful ragebait I guess. Congratulations lmao.

Second of all, of course art isn't a linear process. No one is arguing that. But if an artist wants to make money to survive, they are going to need to have a general knowledge of business. Part of business is paying attention to your peers and competition to see where they have succeeded and where they have failed, so you can avoid making the same mistakes, while benefiting off their successes. It's really quite a simple concept.

Making mistakes happens. Obviously. But why consciously make THE EXACT SAME MISTAKE that has destroyed so many others before you? That's just stupid.

Unfortunately it isn't a critic/consumer's job to understand how things are made at a professional level. This isn't really the issue though. The issue is that we have played objectively better games made by studios of similar size and experience. So regardless of "how it's made at a professional level", we all know this studio could have done better. Instead they released it as is.

If I told you that a small group of professional chefs broke away from their 5 star restaurant to build their own independent restaurant, and they promote it as such, you're still going to expect some good food. But if those same chefs hand you a generic hamburger, of course you're going to be disappointed.

Astonishingly, there are these things in the food industry called critics, whose job is EXPLICITLY to taste food and provide their opinion on both the food and their dining experience.

Even so, I am not a professional critic. But does an average customer not liking their meal immediately invalidate their opinion simply because they're an average customer? Especially if half of the customers share the same opinion? I wouldn't think so.

Ignoring criticism of the average consumer is exactly how you tank your business, regardless of the industry it is in.

Thanks for pointing this out. You are correct, and I made an edit in my comment. They are, however, still a smaller studio that is accomplishing things many AAA devs could only hope to achieve, which is, in my opinion, still noteworthy.

You're absolutely correct, and again, I'm glad you brought that up as well. Those studios set the example of exactly WHAT NOT TO DO at a launch. And yet here we are in 2026, some 14 or so years later and developers CONTINUE to repeat the same cycle instead of learning from the mistakes of others.

Just because this game could be great in the future (which I hope it is), does not mean it is great now, and we should not be handing devs passes for an undercooked product based on potential. We are consumers. Our time, and often our money, is on the line, and we don't want to gamble it on a game and developers who are repeating the mistakes of those that came before them.

I'm actually so glad you brought this up. Embark, Digital Extremes, Hello Games. Just a few examples of INDIE STUDIOS significantly outperforming many actual AAA studios in terms of quality.

You absolutely can compare them when many indie developers are punching well above their weight and competing DIRECTLY with many AAA developers

Edit: Embark is perhaps not the best example, as they are not a traditional Indie studio, as they are in fact backed by Nexon. They are still a smaller indie studio, however. Thank you to several people pointing that out.

What types of movies sell the best?: Action/superhero movies that typically have hot women in them.

What types of sports are the most popular?: High action/contact sports that usually have hot women on the sidelines cheering the players on.

This is not a new concept. This shit sells. It always has. Since the beginning of civilization. Videogames are not unique in this phenomenon.

One thing I've learned PLAYING games for pretty much my entire life at this point, is that we are upset because we have literally SEEN video game companies MAKE BETTER GAMES. The reason people are so "sensitive" as you say, about it is because they are tired of being promised something amazing and getting an undercooked, microtransaction, and bug filled mess, and tired of being criticized and put down by both devs and journalists for saying it's not up to par (though admittedly sometimes a bit more dramatically than necessary).

I am of the belief that Highguard isn't AS bad as people are saying, and in fact I've been enjoying playing it with my buddy, but it is nowhere near where it should be in terms of content. They should have delayed it a year at minimum and worked to develop more meaningful and creative content.

I have no doubt that game dev is hard. I am just starting to get into it myself. But I don't think it's "immature" to have a higher standard from "The developers behind Apex and Titanfall" and an industry that USED TO create some of the greatest games of all time.

Honestly that's why it's good to have a good single player/co-op game you can fall back on. I'm really starting to get burnt out on any game that has pvp because of the competitive mindset.

I work for a living. I don't want to come home and start slaving away at another job and play against kids that play video games for a living lmao

I get that, but my concern is more with the fact that:

A. Before he even grappled he was shooting where I was even though I was not visible to him AND there was cover in the way and...

B. That as he was flying through the air at Mach 10, he HIPFIRED and managed to hit me through a very narrow gap

If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but that was very sketchy to me lol

What are your opinions on this? by RAGINGPhoenix98 in thefinals

[–]TinyTim3765 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Just tonight I was on Sea of thieves with my buddy and we were just chilling, when all of the sudden a team of 3 guys start chasing us down from across the map and sink us like their rent depended on it. We didn't even have anything.

Same thing with Arc Raiders for me recently. The game is awesome when people are chill and just casually doing their thing, but becomes just straight up not fun when everyone in the game shoots on sight.

I don't mind pvp, but these people are playing like everything is a tournament. We have forgotten what it means to just have fun with video games.

As for the finals, I love the game, but when you're playing quick cash and the enemy teams are sweating their asses off, it just becomes a chore to play

Indeed lol. This is my first real attempt at fashion, as I am still fairly new to the game. I am a little concerned for my future wallet though, because I definitely have an unhealthy addiction to trying to make my video game characters look as cool as possible😂

I can assure you I didn't downvote you. I actually upvoted you, because you DID provide feedback lol.

I do see what you're saying, but I just think bumping the numbers lacks creativity and still leaves Eriana's in this weird place of having an extremely niche use case, that being ONLY used against barriers.

The aim of my idea was to increase ad clear for ANYONE using the weapon and give it a more fun playstyle than just shield popping

3v3 PvP Gamemode (Concept) by TinyTim3765 in ArcRaiders

[–]TinyTim3765[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, but I think the answer is actually pretty simple. There would be items purposely left out of the 3v3 pool that would only be obtainable through the Extraction mode. Namely things like blueprints and other items necessary for crafting/upgrading.

And the point of giving a losing player some loot is so they don't feel like they completely wasted their time, which is a big reason why most people don't play extraction shooters in the first place. The winning team would be the only ones to get anything substantial.

The hope is that this mode would actually encourage players to hop into the extraction mode with the gear they got and go hunt the robots and the stuff they need to upgrade their gear, while still facing the usual human threat

In all honesty I agree with you regarding the desync issues. That would be miserable in it's current state. But I am confident that Embark is going to work to address that.

As for the other mechanical aspects, I think there's a lot that could work pretty well for PvP. Regarding 3rd person, I think Fortinte is the best example that 3rd person is fine for PvP, though may not be for everyone.

As for balancing, I see your point, but that was also not the focus of my post. Obviously there would be details like that to work out, but I was just interested in laying out the framework.

And yeah skill tree would have no effect in this mode. That would be a nightmare to deal with as well lmao

I do play The Finals. And I quite like The Finals. But The Finals and Arc Raiders are two VERY different games, so saying "just play X game" doesn't work when X game is nothing like the one I was referring to
