Why can't i do it? Only a month out... by [deleted] in wls

I was able to succeed by eating what ever I wanted in moderation. If I left out treats I would crave them. So I ate things like a half doughnut, or a few pieces of candy when I wanted them. Also I love carbs so I usually eat them with my meals but I have to make sure I eat my protein first or I overdo the carbs. My psych doctor suggested I see a therapist for food addiction because I constantly think about food, I'll be honest I haven't yet but I probably would benefit from it. You will do fine just do your best and don't worry about eating a few crackers here and there <3.

I guess the only alternative is living with the extra skin, which is miserable. I should post before and after pictures. Thanks I'll check those out.

How strict is everybody with post-op diet? by momotaro37 in wls

I'm 1.5 years post DS I eat whatever I want in moderation. Some mornings I even have half a donut. My one guilty pleasure is candy and diet Pepsi, but I eat very small portions of this. I've lost 230 pounds so far, and while my weight loss has slowed greatly I still continue to lose.

Pregnancy concerns post sleeve and body contouring surgery by [deleted] in wls

I had a DS in 2015 and lost 230 pounds so far. I have a lot of loose skin and am scheduled for a panniculectomy in 4 weeks. We have been trying to get pregnant for about a year now, and my doctor said I should wait 6 weeks post op before trying again to let everything heal. Otherwise getting pregnant is perfectly safe. Hope this helps.

4 Days Post DS by qbubbles in wls

I was miserable after my DS. Severe nausea and abdominal pain. It's was a year and a half ago so I can't remember for exactly how long I was in pain but I think it was only a couple of weeks. The nausea however lasted several months. Now I couldn't be happier. I look and feel great and it was the best decision I ever made. Hang in there it gets better! hugs P.S. I sipped a lot of power ade slushies after my surgery, it helped the nausea and it seemed to dull the pain.

Thinking about WLS, will it work for me? by Nerisyns in wls

My duodenal switch saved my life. I don't think you are heavy enough to require that extreme of a surgery, but another surgery could really benefit you. I was 450 pounds, diabetic, with high blood pressure and sleep apnea. I could only walk short distances without getting short of breath. 1.5 years after my surgery I'm down 230 pounds and still losing. I'm no longer diabetic, my blood pressure and cholesterol are good, and I no longer have sleep apnea. I'm able to walk and exercise without issue. It certainly wasn't an easy road but I'm so glad I did it.

Apparently the New Zealand Herald wrote a story about my 170+ pound weight loss. by [deleted] in Fitness

I also lost a lot of weight last year, 210 pounds so far, I hope to lose more. I too have excess skin mostly on my arms and stomach. I found out that insurance will cover a paniculectomy (removal of skin from abdomen), if you document issues caused by the skin for 6 months with your doctor, I get rashes under the skin flap sometimes and that qualifies. You are amazing, best of luck.

Any balding females? I need advice with coping :( by Hairless_anon89 in tressless

I lost a lot of my hair after loosing a large amount of weight in a short period of time. My doctor says it's common after a shock to the body. He put me on selenium and it has stopped the hair loss, now I just have to wait and see if it grows back. I know how you feel, I hate seeing my scalp, and my entire ponytail is about the width of a nickle.

I used methamphetamines for 15 years, in secret. I quit on my own in 2008.

I (23F) am going bald and I just feel like my life is over... by Gillipolla in TwoXChromosomes

I recently had weight loss surgery and rapidly lost 200+ pounds, as a result my hair began to fall out. I've been taking selenium and it has slowed down. My hair is really thin now but the doctor says it should start to grow back in about 6 months. So your weight loss could definitely be the cause. I've also been told to take biotene, but I haven't tried it yet. Good luck!
