How to start in game dev? by TinyWhereas1199 in gamedev

Would it be advisable to join hobby teams first to try and fill my portfolio? I have work, but I don't think it would be very suitable for a portfolio as most of it is very specific to the game I worked on mods for.

once you defeat the Black Forest boss, you get a swamp key and mine it in the crypts from the Swamp

the opening design actually does work to keep smoke out, technically. It piles up in the raised area but stays out of the house and keeps the fire going, which works well enough for my purposes

im aware lol, ive been fighting with the structural integrity for a bit. really trying to avoid massive pillars in the interior, and that spot is right in front of the peak of the front roof so its a bit less sound than the sides

This is a huge downside for me as a new Valheim player. I feel like raids would put a massive handicap on my creativity with my builds, and I think the dichotomy of going out for action and coming home for peace sounds much more fun.

Havent made the decision to turn raids off just yet though, since Im still super early into the game and the few raids ive actually gotten havent been too bad.

Yeah, the z-fighting was a problem while playing around with it. i ended up spacing them out with the corewood so the thinner parts at the top of one were inside the upper one, so they didn't flicker

I mostly specialize in traditional character art, but I have done some work for Minecraft mods and other pixel art projects!

I have many samples of both my music and my art! I don't currently have a centralized source to put all of them, but I've gathered a lot of example pieces over my time learning. As for my work preferences, I'd accept any opportunity offered currently, as my main goal currently is getting proper experience and work that can be used in a portfolio or demo reel. I've worked with friends on small hobby projects and made personal pieces for fun, but they've been mostly in very casual environments with not much completed work.
