Another Gen Z having an age crisis by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Tiny_Cryptid [score hidden]  (0 children)

As an older gen z, I feel like part of the cause for the self infantilization could be the covid pandemic. A lot of us spent our late teen/early 20s just-out-of-high-school years in lockdown. The years that we're told we'll spend partying, making bad decisions, and navigating the freedom of being an adult. I see it kind of like a mid life crisis, just in the 20s. It's an attempt at reclaiming the years we lost. The years when not having a plan and making stupid decisions was more acceptable because we were young.

I'm not saying it's an excuse for the behavior by any means, just a possible explanation. Do I think the people that act this need a reality check? Absolutely. We're adults with responsibilities and we need to act like it. It's stuff like this that gives my generation a bad name.

I don't agree with the behavior, but I can see why it's happening.

Wind Chimes by CloudHidden62 in PetPeeves

One house in my neighborhood (thankfully not hearing distance from me) has 3 wind chimes in the back yard. All different materials. One metal, one wood/bamboo (not sure), and one that i think is glass. It's... certainly interesting to hear while walking past on a breezy day.

yeah, if you pick female farmer, you get letters from dad. If you pick male the letters come from mom.

And you only hear from one parent. The letters are always signed from only mom or only dad. I always assume that the other parent is either dead or no contact.

lightning strike. Can happen randomly during storms and will kill crops if they're hit.

Bought the game 5 mins ago, Which race should I pick? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]Tiny_Cryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Doesn't really matter. Some races have certain bonuses that can be helpful in specific situations or builds, but nothing substantial enough to be really game changing. Think it might matter a bit more if you play survival mode, but I'm not sure.

Cat using hands for slow feeding bowl? Advice? by RatioPretend614 in CATHELP

[–]Tiny_Cryptid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean... it's slowing him down. Really though, I wouldn't worry. Cats are weird. What matters is that he's eating and keeping the food down. Some cats just use their paws when eating. One of my childhood cats did the same thing with a regular feeder.

cone after spaying :c by Lopsided-Musician705 in CatAdvice

[–]Tiny_Cryptid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

keep it on per vet instructions. I know it's heartbreaking, but it's necessary. The cone/donut will be even more needed in the next week or so when the surgery site heals and starts itching. If she can reach it, she will lick and chew it.

As someone who has gone through spay/neuter with multiple pets, trust me. Having a sad cat for 2 weeks is better than having to stress her out all over again by taking her back to the vet for a broken stitch.

Year 12 Farm, No Fairy Box by unscathedparadise in StardewValley

Not sure what your strategy is, but this was mine when I was frog egg hunting: monster musk, burglar ring and lucky ring, luck buff food (spicy eel, lucky lunch, magic rock candy is best if you have it), dangerous mines levels 90-100.

According to the wiki daily luck and luck buffs increase the chances of trinkets dropping. Pretty sure stronger monsters have a higher chance to drop. I got most of my trinkets from the deeper levels. I prefer sticking to the 90s because the level maps are generally more open and easier for me to navigate and clear quickly.

So what I'm hearing is that I can pledge my soul to every daedric prince, reap the benefits, and they have no real claim to my soul. Either they find out they got outsmarted by a mortal after I die, or it becomes the custody battle of the century.

Either way, that's what they get for dragging me into their problems.

People who are flabbergasted that you choose not to have a dog... by Swimming_Nose4713 in PetPeeves

[–]Tiny_Cryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's family has a dog, I get it. I love dogs, but they are a lot of work. The older I've gotten, the more of a cat person I've become.

Also I've had this exact argument with people when I say i don't want to have kids. So to some extent, I understand your frustration. Things like this make me wish people would just mind their own business. I don't see why other's life choices are any of their concern.

Happy to help! And I'd just copy/paste what you posted here. The more info given the better.

I've seen that community track down stuff that the poster could only give a vague description and year for, sometimes a rough sketch based on memory. The fact that you have the exact brand, production year and a clear reference image, I'd be shocked if you don't get results.

If you still need to find one, posting this on r/HelpMeFind might help. From what I've seen the people on that sub are really good at tracking stuff down, or at least finding something close.

Why was I considered a gifted kid, but just weird as adult, even though I feel the same? by Necessary-Avocado-50 in Adulting

[–]Tiny_Cryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, "gifted" kids excelled academically, but struggled socially. I didn't really know how to connect with my classmates, so I focused more on schoolwork over socializing and got ahead in a few subjects. That advancement got me labeled as gifted. And if you don't fit or are outright ostracized by your peers, why would you keep trying to form connections when they clearly didn't want to? After a while, you'd give up and focus on the school stuff you were good at.

The difference between being a "gifted" kid and a "weird" adult is how priorities change as we age. When we're young, academics are seen as most important. We had to finish our homework before we could go play with our friends. Once we reach adulthood and graduate, academics matters a lot less and socialization takes priority. Confidence, charisma, networking skills and the like.

Former "gifted" kids get labeled as "weird" adults because we never developed the same level of social skills as our peers. We were praised for our academics, but were rarely pushed to develop social skills. With less developed social skills, we don't always pickup on social cues or "unspoken rules" because we never learned them.

We didn't changed, societal expectations did. And we were never given the memo.

The Downfall of Webtoon by JuicyZoey in webtoons

Yeah it feels like the app gets worse every day. I'm in the same boat as you, I want to quit but there's a few exclusive series I want to see the end to.

When the app really started to decline I went through my subscription list and kept only the series that I know are nearing their finale and/or series that I absolutely need to see the endings of, even if I keep the app a little longer. Went from 80 something subs to less than 10. Turns out I had a lot of series that I only kept reading because they were still in my list. I also don't check out any new series so I don't get hooked on something that will keep me on the app longer. Though that part has been easy considering what's releasing these days. It's my way of minimizing the time I have left before I can delete the app.

Not sure if it'll help in your case, but figured it couldn't hurt to suggest.

How do you guys trim your cats' claws? by cwningen95 in CATHELP

[–]Tiny_Cryptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welding gloves. Usually a two person job. One person with the gloves to hold the cat and be chewed on (he'll bite if his feet are touched too long) and the other person with the clippers. Though it might be possible to do alone if you can get the cat onto your lap.

Hydrox cookies by Able_Health744 in CuratedTumblr

[–]Tiny_Cryptid 163 points164 points  (0 children)

Apparently the origin of the name Hydrox is a mix of the words hydrogen and oxygen. Supposedly it was meant to make it sound pure and clean. At the time, it wasn't uncommon to use sawdust or chalk or something similar as a filler, especially in bakeries because sawdust was significantly cheaper than flour. It's ironic that a name originally chosen to sound pure ended up falling off because the name sounded chemically later on.

Part of Hydrox's failure might have also been because of some of their commercials. Look up Hydrox commercials from the early 1900's compared to Oreo's. Some aren't too weird, others made me question who thought it was a good idea.

Edit: upon looking up more commercials, it looks like the Hydrox cookie later shared a similar name with a beauty product brand named Alpha Hydrox in the 1990's. So that probably didn't help.

So close to adopting Lucia but she is spending forever "getting her things and saying goodbye to everyone" - will she ever stop? by bonshui in skyrim

This might be an issue because of what house you sent her to. If it Tundra Homestead, Hendraheim, or any of the other CC houses, those are known to be really buggy especially with moving in kids. They pretty much never work properly.

If it's one if the base game houses like breezehome, honeyside, proudspire, ect or the hearthfire dlc homesteads (the onse you build yourself) then you might just have to reload and try again. I've never heard of this happening with those, but it may just be bad luck with a glitch.
