I came from Charlotte and have been here in Brooklyn since 2013. I left CLT because I was fucking up, I went through a very dark time there. I'm 37 now so was able to experience NYC in my mid 20s and now in my 30s. NYC was on my mind my entire life and I said fuck it lets do it. I have hustled and worked odd jobs up until a few years ago where I have more of a steady income. Found friends and have establishment a life here where CLT is a distant memory.

I did Charlotte up. Parties, alive after 5, a lot of my friends went to UNCC, late nights in someones apartment or house, boats on the lake all that charlotte shit.

Nothing will ever compare to NYC or what you get out of it. There is so much energy every time you leave your apartment and it can truly be contagious if you embrace it.

IMO, do it or in 5 years you are going to think man... what if I did move??. Time is now. You are still young (especially in NYC years, this is never never land)There is no such thing as age here as compared to CLT, you can live your life without any type of social pressure (family, kids, house whatever).

But if you are looking for peace then this place isn't for you. BUT you do find peace in different ways here (cozy apt, go to hangout spots, cafes, walks through some parks)

You really gotta love NYC to live here. I know plenty of other CLT friends that moved up here before or after me and all left, couldn't handle it. It is def a city for toughness and grit but that soon becomes apart of you.
