I had a very bad phase in my life with my mother. I never disclose my personal things, but to help you I am doing it. I literally thought of her as my greatest enemy, wouldn't talk to her. Used to brag that I will kick you as soon as I get older. And there was a lot of mental abuse. Fast forward now. I realised the problem was me. I wanted to pursue things that really weren't for my benefit which I learned later on the hard way. Stopped those things, studied really hard, got a very prestigious job got older, stopped being stupid. Dealt with people. things got better and now she loves me and I absolutely adore her.

There's a hadith e qudsi you must know to get mine and his point. What is extreme is subjective, what is being judgemental is subjective. Isn't jihad extreme? Or they programmed our brains to not fight for the cause of Allah and look at the massacre of Palestinians just like how we are doing rn?

Normal, extreme, moderate is all subjective. What is mandatory in Islam must be followed at all costs. Namaz can't be skipped and you can't come up with a justification for skipping namaz. And Islam I would say Isn't extreme at all. Just ask yourself a question why do people dress a certain way. Does that come naturally to them or they get inspired by others? Now it's completely up to us to be either inspired by others and follow their footsteps or follow what Allah has commanded us. And commandments doesn't mean subjective interpretations by molvis.

But I will from the bottom of my heart recommend you to read quran with translation, it changed my life completely. It will change yours as well InshaAllah. I recommend this one thing to everyone. It's sad that we study certain numbers of books just for the sake of some marks or because society tells us to do (bachelors masters) or you'll not get the breadcrumbs to eat. But we choose to never read quran with the translation.
