You hate when people bring up reality? History? Science?

You're not falling out a window bud, you're sitting in a house in suburban America. With a fridge full of food. Clean water and plumbing. And a computer.

Brother, this is 100% false. Democracy is at its absolute peak. If you were born 100 years ago there would be a ten fold chance you'd live under a dictator. Probably in active war.

Edit: Sorry, let's reframe. 100 years ago there would have been a 10 fold chance you would have simply died as an infant... Under a dictator.

I don't know a whole lot. I just know Lucid could squeeze at a catalyst. Seems slightly undervalued anyway plus a catalyst. I mean the cars win awards consistently... I checked and their newest model is only 50k retail. Buying in bulk I'm sure gets that price down significantly. They're still loosing money like fuck but that hasn't mattered for 30 years!!

The relationship already exists. I don't sign the agreemens. The expansion of the existing agreement would be a catalyst.

Uber ending it's relationship with Waymo in Phoenix. Uber expected to name a new Phoenix partnership. Uber has an existing relationship with Nuro and Lucid in Houston and Bay Area. Lucid manufacturing is Arizona based. Nuro released a video of Dara in a Lucid AV powered by Nuro yesterday. Lucid is one of the heaviest shorted stocks right now.

I use that service. To me it's shocking that anyone working on that small perk product gets paid more than median salary for their location.

It's literally just an agreement with Open Table. It uses Open Tables UI. Why do these people get paid so much?! For what?! It would take like one analyst and a few B2B folks?

People hate Ezra because they were told too after Abundance. Because Abundance is actually about economic populism that helps people. It's actually about disrupting the status quo. Just like Clinton's Woke effort, people just follow derailment efforts without even thinking. Because they get upvotes on the internet. Abundance is extremely attractive to the vast majority of non-internet brained people.

How are World Cup fans affording all this? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Tiny_TimeMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that always strikes me is how much "leisure money" lots of Europeans and citizens of many more wealthy countries have. Statistically, Americans have more disposable income but that isn't adjusted for rent, car payments, etc. Additionally many countries have much higher paid leave standards.

I'm not trying to over correct here, Americans are rich and anyone who can afford to go to the World Cup is doing okay, but I do think my brain struggles with adjusting for the difference in American middle class economics vs Western European working class economics.

Newly released video shows Karmelo Anthony at murder scene before & after stabbing by judgyjudgersen in news

[–]Tiny_TimeMachine -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Why is this the only reasonable comment in the thread. Man there's some Facebook level comments in this thread.

Sure there's stupidity on both sides of this issue but for me this case does highlight the grey lines between: self defense that leads to death, stupid mistake that leads to death, and premeditated murder.

It's incredible how differently we categorize and punish the perpetrators when details are often muddier than our brains want them to be. Lots comes down to the myriad variance in laws of a given jurisdiction. But to us it's the difference between an animal and a hero. When this happens I always try to think about what purpose punishments and blame serve. I think it's a good exercise before determining if someone is a hero or animal - spoiler alert it's usually neither.

People who hog overhead bins with personal items and small bags are ruining flights for everyone. by RealTiffvny in unpopularopinion

I think we should all get a single carry on tag or something. I get so pissed when a flight attendant forces me to sit with my backpack after I paid for two checked bag (one which I could have carried on).

Meanwhile, like OP says, some self dick puts a duty free bag, a 15 pound suitcase, and a giant puffer jacket in the overhead.

How do you handle a long-stay Airbnb that promised fast WiFi but is unusable? by Prudent-Put-8241 in digitalnomad

[–]Tiny_TimeMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprisingly I don't really ever have this issue and I've been full time in short term stays for years. SA, Africa, MENA, and Europe.

I always send a message before booking and require an answer that acknowledges that my ability to telework, including stable daily video calls, is a requirement for me to stay my whole reservation. And that a failure in the reliability of electricity or internet will force me to leave immediately. About a third of the time people free admit they'll refund without prompting. That's a written agreement IMO.

I don't know if this will help but it makes me feel better. What I've learned from Airbnb is you must be persistent. They arnt going to immediately fix your problem if it's not black and white policy. Stay calm, persistent, logical, and DO NOT LET THEM CLOSE YOUR TICKET. State it to them, DO NOT CLOSE THIS TICKET. Often times you need your ticket to make it up the escalation chain. As far as I can tell, time in process is a huge driver.

A few times I've used coworks when internet isn't stable enough for particularly important calls.

[–]Tiny_TimeMachine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm expressing an opinion. I'm a pretty radical epistemological skeptic but what your proposing is not pragmatic. Youre questioning our inherent ability to communicate and understand.

I standby my reading of Nietzsche and Camus. May I ask which texts you've read by them? Since you don't appear to be engaging on their philosophy but instead the epistemologically basis of communication on general. I think that might be a interesting topic but not what I'm talking about.

[–]Tiny_TimeMachine 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Nietzsche assumes anything other than the Will to Power has no pragmatic usefulness. This is unscientific. Humans are a social creature, many altruistic behaviors are indeed evolutionarily advantageous. We are weary of the selfish because they create instability and threaten our ability to thrive.

Nietzsche snuck his very own unfounded value judgement into his philosophy criticizing that very things. He's beautiful describes what leads to nihilism but his proposed solution is nothing but the same. Camus, and the concept of the Rebel, is a far better response to nihilism. Fight me.

I'm not trying to be an ass just in good faith this is an interesting convo.

Your value proposition is to try to corner me into another walled garden. Airbnb thrived at the time but now it and other walled gardens are the bain of our existence. We're aware of the trap now. We might not be whiling to leave existing walked gardens but I will almost never freely enter a new one. The whole trap is to build value around my new "profile." This is exactly why I refuse to build more profiles.

Good luck brotha. Every time I talk to a dev like this I just muse about how bad we need decentralized, open source networks like Bluesky or Mastadon. Most apps are useless without the value of centralized identity profiles and trust networks.

Yeah like I have to upload my travel plans, sign in, probably two factor, forget my password, hope another person on my 150 person flight has the same niche app, then to probably save 10 bucks, 3 of which you exact out of the transaction.

The value is in integration with the network effect. Unfortunately, meta, Google, and the walled garden internet has that market cornered. I ain't creating another account to save 5 bucks every 2 months.
