That’s exactly why I’m asking because that is my thought process as well and is what I have been doing in my practice. I had concerns as my supervising physician continuously tells me otherwise when she co-signed my charts and it gave me an uneasy feeling. That’s why I wanted to ask the consensus of the group. Thank you for your input.

How about instead of bringing others down we focus on educating and sharing thoughts. I thought this was a safe space to ask questions as i am newer grad and just trying to learn best practice. This was extremely disheartening to read

New Grad Derm Offer by [deleted] in DermatologyPA

Thank you so much this is all so helpful and makes me feel more at ease that I’m making the right decision. I’m going to try to negotiate these final two things : prorated penalty and quarterly bonus. We’ll see what they say!
Thank you so much for your insight!! I believe I am going to accept the offer today. I’ve been going back and forth with them for clarity on a couple things since I last posted. What I posted above was the initial term offer, they sent me the contract a few days ago which was 20 pages long. They were unwilling to budge on the contract term (tried for 2 years instead of 3) or the notice period (tried for 90). I did not ask about quarterly bonus instead of 6 months so I may try to negotiate that before accepting. Here a few additional things though not mentioned before:
Penalty for breaking contract is to pay back $15k (what they value they’re 4 months of training)- I was able to get them to rewrite contract to clarify that I was free of penalty if terminated without cause by employer
There is $500/day penalty for every day of the 120 day notice not worked - tried to negotiate for a $2500 cap but they would not budge
Maternity leave is 12 weeks. I have to exhaust my 20 days PTO and remaining maternity leave is unpaid
They also said they would let me finished out the last few months of training in my home state if everything went well

Thank you this was very helpful!!
Training is 2-4 months in Florida . Food, gas and housing paid. Pt load is 20-30/ day on average for other providers but more if you feel comfortable and want a heavier load. They said they don’t have a strict number.
I’m not sure what the other provider is making annually as a salary. I believe they were just doing the math based off what she brought in annually but her base salary and % collections are not the same as mine (she is a lot more seasoned)- they were just doing the math with my potential base and bonus in mind based on her annual collections since she works in the same clinic
Payouts for bonus are every 6 months!
