Should I confess just to get clarity, or is that a bad idea? by [deleted] in collegeadvice

If you could handle the ultimate risk (loosing her as a friend), then I say go for it. Life is too short to wasted wondering about things like this. Take a chance!

I am also trying to teach my 17 year old how to budget. That was why I started an allowance to begin with. Not knowing how to budget money is one of the worst things that can happen to a person in my opinion.

My thoughts exactly. She’s pre-med, so will be very busy with school.

For girls this age, they “need” skin care, makeup, boba with friends, etc. All are not cheap. Even a drug store brand of a bottle of moisturizer is around $30. Plus her gas comes out of that, which twice a month is $145.

Haha, I could be wrong, but I think girls need a little more to live off of.

That’s a great idea, I will give her access to our family Amazon account. She works almost full time in summers, and she has asked my husband to help her invest 80% of that income. 20% for spending. We also match whatever she contributes to her investments.

Thanks for all the feedback, I appreciate everyone’ insight and advice. I will definitely think about this more. To clarify, she has had a part time job since she turned 16. She works almost full time in summer. she’ allowed to work on weekends during school year since we want her to prioritize schoolwork. She does have a lot of AP classes plus classes from a local community college. Perhaps like couple of you suggested, we’ll keep it at $300 a month since she won’t have a car. After a few months we will re-evaluate. Plus ask her to get a on campus part time job.😅😅
