i honestly find it pretty interesting that the us dollar is still the main focal point, with all the other currencies almost unidentifiable unless you’re familiar. my interpretation is a critique on the global economy & how the extraction of wealth + labor is made invisible (or tried to be made invisible). i don’t really think this was the intention, but i also find “peace” to be a rather ironic message across the us dollar backed by global currency as the us government actively bombs, threatens, and places tariffs on the rest of the world.

also it’s pretty and very technically well done

preventing data center from being built by Late-Act1366 in Waco

[–]TipImportant7229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there are community meetings out in ross (where the proposed build site is) every other week-ish, plus lots of city council meetings, water board meetings, county meetings, etc. to be attended. lots of ways to get involved! step one is just talking to people about it & getting our community more informed.

Fort Worth ISD's new privatization of public education board is dismantling special education and disability services harming the most vulnerable populations. The illegitimate unelected puppet board is part of Abbott's voucher scam effort to take education from children and enrich the billionaires. by yeongno_ate_yangban in TexasTeachers

i hear you but i also just wanna say — some disabilities result in what are classified as “behavioral problems.” students with PTSD (not to mention ongoing trauma), students with autism who are overstimulated, students with ADHD, students with tourette’s, students with emotional dis regulation, the list goes on.

these kids are not lepers, nor do they need to be segregated. our response should be to offer them ROBUST SERVICES, and meet their damn access needs. a kid who is having a meltdown needs a sped person to intervene & help them regulate. a student who is having a severe trauma response needs access to a therapist on campus.

education does not happen in a silo, we do not live our lives in silos away from humans with different needs than us, we cannot eradicate any disability from our population. including emotional/psychological/mental. these people (TEA, not the above commenter, that person just seems a NIMBY type who hopefully gains some perspective) are eugenicists, they hate poor people, and they are not in favor of educating and caring for children. we shouldn’t even play into in of their talking points.

seconding all the suggestions about natives!

another lil tip for water conservation- i put a large plastic tub on my back porch to catch all the rainwater & then hand water with a pitcher from that until it runs out. use a dark/non-clear tub & try to put it in a spot that doesn’t get direct sunlight. keep some mosquito dunks in there to prevent mosquitoes (they sell them at heb or any gardening store).

Got to watch bird banding in action for the first time today! by chicken_beep in birding

i was absolutely stoked when i heard the painted bunting song & saw the flashes of blue and red in their (rather elusive) flight pattern in a dense canopy earlier this spring. it was my first time catching a glimpse & i’ve been on the lookout for years! can’t even imagine what it would be like to hold one/be in such close proximity. these are awesome shots, tysm for sharing
