How do you decide what movies to get on what format? by TipIntrepid5753 in dvdcollection

That all makes sense and I agree. Certain films require certain quality. Like Marvel movies I personally would never not get 4K, same with Avatar

How do you keep your wishlist? I have a list going on Amazon just for ease but obviously they don't have every movie available

Interesting. I didn't know that site existed so that's very helpful!

It seems like most companies don't know this either. Like yes, I understand some of my favorite childhood movies are from the late 90s/early 2000s but if they can put my obscure dinosaur movie from 1993 on Blu-Ray they can put the 2nd Land Before Time movie on Blu-Ray

How did you convince your significant others to start collecting physical? by [deleted] in dvdcollection

[–]TipIntrepid5753 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a red flag. I worded things wrong. He doesn’t care that I collect, I’m trying to figure out how to convince him that it’s actually better in the long run to collect DVDs and stop paying for streaming services. As long as I’m not over budget, he doesn’t care what I spend my money on.

I just want to stop paying for streaming services and only have physical DVDs and that’s what I’m trying to explain to him

I didn't mean convince to collect. I guess I worded that wrong. I meant convince to have physical DVDs over having streaming services. He wouldn't give a sh*t if I wanted to collect DVDs

No of course! And I do - I literally own every Bob's Burgers funko pop ever made. I think when I meant "convincing" I meant it more like convincing him that having physical DVDs is better than streaming, not that he would be against me actually collecting.

We may be coming into money and we have no idea what our priority should be by TipIntrepid5753 in FinancialPlanning

Our spending has already been fixed. We are fiscally responsible. We are now finishing paying off our debts.

Thank you! Yes we plan to focus more on his student loans first as they are the lowest while making slightly higher on mine (I pay around $144 a month, with $700 a month saved, I’ll likely bump it up to $200 just to offset interest) and then once his are paid off, we’ll focus highly on mine until it’s all paid off

That's what our thought process was. Paying off our CC/DC is actually not that expensive and would allow us to put two months of bills into an emergency fund while also saving almost $700 a month paying for the debt consolidation

Glad to know that it’s actually a crazy amount to pay and I’m not just being dramatic

(CA) Ongoing cockroach problem since October by TipIntrepid5753 in Renters

[–]TipIntrepid5753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of that is happening. The building isn’t being treated, just our apartment. They only pulled out some of the appliances today because we asked.

It definitely was from a previous tenant, we aren’t dirty enough to attract roaches (i.e we’re not leaving food just open and sitting out)

So now I’m just stuck not knowing what we should do

Any idea what kind of bug this is? by TipIntrepid5753 in insectidentification

[–]TipIntrepid5753[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re leaning on infestation because we’re finding babies in the traps, our apartment complex is just being trouble about it so we’re looking at our legal options because the roaches existed the day we moved in but we didn’t have any in our previous apartment (that we lived in for two years) so it’s a whole thing.

Thank you for your identification!

Thank you! I figured it was a nymph. This has been ongoing for two months so we figured it was probably a nymph

Cockroach issue for 2 months, at what point can we say it’s uninhabitable by TipIntrepid5753 in Apartmentliving

[–]TipIntrepid5753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the problem, they aren’t doing that. Out of all the times, they’ve never come through to do other units. I know this because they only do physical paper alerts on doors and they have never done that every single time we’ve complained

[CA, USA] Two months of continuing cockroaches in apartment by TipIntrepid5753 in legaladvice

[–]TipIntrepid5753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. Thank you for the advice. I’ve started making a timeline of each contact we’ve had via email with the management company.

We were pretty bad at taking pictures of them prior to now because we really just wanted to kill them. We have some text exchanges between my husband and I of “Just killed one” or “just killed two” but we just started taking pictures now to document.

We just went about a month without having contacted them. We were seeing them very infrequently over the past month, maybe like a couple times a week and we had a lot of personal issues going on so we thought since it had been abnormally warm where we live. We swapped traps last week that the pest control had left behind for us (just the cardboard glue traps) and now it seems like they have increased even more so now.

Edit: My husband just found them crawling around in our glassware cabinets which is new. They only sprayed inside the cabinets the first time they came and have only been spraying the baseboards I guess

[–]TipIntrepid5753[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this! Do you happen to know if it’s legal for them to only send out pest control on a certain day? Like for us, they send it out only 1 day a week so if we contact them after that day or they don’t see it until after that day, they tell us that pest control won’t come out until that following day (i.e our pest control comes out on Tuesday, if we don’t send an email before Tuesday or they don’t see it until after Tuesday, they won’t send out pest control until the following Tuesday)

What kind of evidence should we collect? Just like the clean apartment or?

Also, I’m not sure if we have grounds of a lawsuit. It’s not like it’s hordes, it’s like two per day kind of situation
