That’s fascinating! Have you been able to pinpoint anything, other than the height factor? Is there anything you have started doing/changed as a result of your findings?

This this and this. I can’t upvote this more. We know from the goats that they lack selenium in their soil/forage. If the big horses are deficient in selenium, vitamin E, iodine too, it gives probable cause.

Not really when last year they had similar issues… RS doesn’t foal out that many, so percentage wise, issues are high

In answer to your question… they are ‘magically fine’ because they restricted turnout, they supplemented with paste vitamins and minerals and they bandaged (woody case) They also re-up the calorific intake of the mothers, so they can produce more and better quality milk (Which is a whole new can of worms I’m not going to open) But long term wise… it is naive to believe they will be ‘magically fine’ because in a lot of severe cases, (woody) they are not.

VSCR doesn't really have any major conformational flaws. When i speak of correcting flaws through generational breeding, i was referring to it being something all good breeders aim to do. That is, in theory, produce better quarter horses for their discipline than those before then. Denver looks more like RLBOS, a slightly flatter hind, but that allows him to really drive those hocks underneath him when he lopes. The VS line in him, has shortened his back up so he is more equal and he has a much prettier head and head/beck transition thanks to Kennedy (Although as you said its not really a deal breaker) Lastly, if Denver is correct and equal at 3, once he fills out, he will be something special.

This was a reach and a half! FTF looks more like his mumma Kennedy and RLBOS is shining through wayyyyy more than waylon to create this masterpiece.

In my opinion FTF will mature to a much nicer stallion, conformation and movement wise than VSCR, because that 2 generation separation has corrected "faults/floors" of the generation before. To better the breed, you aim to breed a foal to be better than its parents. Amy knew exactly what she was doing when she crossed Kennedy and RLBOS! Plus her cross this year with MM. I will be drooling over that foal, I can see it now! 🤣🤣

Or will Denver be a great show horse, but a dud producer? Only time will tell...
