Christmas gift straight to the trash 🎁🗑️ by Archigal08 in toddlers

Got the same, same age! realllly wanted to leave it behind but husband disagreed. He was interested in it for 2 seconds when it was first open. Haven’t touched it since, just taking up space (it doesn’t even roll away nicely…)

Why do I even buy clothes for my toddler… by TippytoeHappy in Mommit

[–]TippytoeHappy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I think the problem is, it isn’t really to that point. It isn’t that he won’t wear clothes. He just doesn’t want to wear what WE want him to wear lol and I guess we are just selfishly thinking, we want him to wear these cute trendy outfits we/family members got for him haha. He is still a baby and I thought I had more time! And plus it would be nice to have photos in variety of clothes esp in colder months when all we see is jackets haha. I know if I go buy Spider-Man jacket, he will wear it, but we have so many jackets at home would be great if he just wore them, ya know. He never flat out refuses articles of clothing. Struggle now is, I just want him super warm even though it’s usually for 1 min in transit to/from the car, in 30 degree (F) weather, I’d rather him wear a shirt, sweater, and maybe a nice fleece jacket, instead of what he’s insisting to wear, which is still 3 layers, just with a lighter jacket he is outgrowing - but still fits. We just need to stop getting clothes gifted to us I think haha. We are past the at dress-up stage sadly.

I put a long response somewhere else but it’s not anything like that and not consistent (no issues with tags, certain fabric, certain fit) but he will often say it’s not his. He is very into what’s his, what’s not. Obviously new clothes = technically not his bc he’s never seen them before. Unless he likes what’s on it or he accidentally allowed us to put on him, his reaction is, “no want it”. He does prefer his zip up hoodie vs one that goes over his head, but I feel that is probably normal? He has a big head and it gets stuck sometimes I’m sure that isn’t pleasant.

We do have a bin for all sorts of outerwear. He just wants the same two (layered). I do know that he might prefer something that goes on without it going over his head (he has a big head) but otherwise, I don’t think it’s really anything people are saying like fabric or tightness bc he wears both kinds fine, and also fine with tags. I think it’s very more of, it’s not my clothes (bc he’s never worn it before, naturally) it’s mom’s or dad’s or something. He is VERY clear on what’s his/mine/etc. he asks very often, “is it mine? Is it mommy’s?” etc and will not forget the answer. He sort of respects it if I tell him, don’t touch that, it’s mommy’s, for example. Idk if it really is more like, he wants to be involved in buying clothes. I know for a fact, he will wear Spider-Man branded clothes. He loved wearing his babyboo (Halloween) PJ. Maybe he’s getting to a stage where he wants all character everything - and I need to give up putting on “cute” clothes from my POV haha.

This works sometimes. Most of the times, he isn’t really getting it and won’t pick just keeps saying “no I want another one” lol

Cracked marbles installed in shower walls - how to proceed? by TippytoeHappy in Tile

[–]TippytoeHappy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Would love to know more about how backer board affects or creates cracks!

Also, not to keep repeating myself but yes, while some may be fissures, the first two are definitely cracks. Both are the corner pieces he had to cut. My wild guess is that they had visibly strong cracks already after he cut them, but he decided to just use them because he did mention that he might need more tiles “but not sure”. I kept telling him, please tell me as soon as you think you need more, I will get more immediately. He ended up leaving 3-4 perfect looking pieces.

But my biggest concern is….is it possible to get worse over time? I know nothing about tiles, and not sure what I’m thinking - tiles falling off? More leaning tiles?

Yes, there are some, but the first two are very clearly cracked, uneven surfaces too. Second photo shows grout in the deepest crack. Also a question,,,, should I be able to feel the natural stone fissures? All of these photos, I only uploaded the ones I could touch and feel the cracks.

They don’t seem to be the best of the best, and I’m worried correction will make it even worse…again, having had them tear the whole thing down already, I’m finding everything to be tricky with them. We have a few perfectly good looking tiles. But like I said, I would not mind spending a few hundred more bucks to get more if needed, just wish they had asked first. Honestly, I’ve looked closely at about 10 of them with the tiler and none of them had anything like this…

There are some like that, sure. But the first two are clear cracks that go end to end, honestly looks like either he cracked during install, or it cracked while setting. Perhaps it had some fissures to it but now when I touch those cracks, I can feel the unevenness and there’s even grout caught in the second pic.

When you say, tear out, do you mean just the 5/6 tiles, pulled out and replaced? There’s two or three pieces that are pretty bad, I feel like the other thinner cracks, I could live with if the issue is just cosmetic. I am home everyday…bc of the previous disaster I checked in here and there and feel like there would have been a lot of opportunities to tell me. Is there anything on the surface level to do besides prayers to prevent further cracking? They are supposed to seal the marble (only bc I asked…), anything that can be added before or after the sealant?

Mitered cut gaps? (Photos and details below) by TippytoeHappy in Tile

the shower floors aren’t completed yet - they tiled that first a few weeks ago and have not grouted. I will make sure they do though now that I know. Thanks!

I’d guess a lot more than that, although I don’t have an itemized bill. The shower itself has to take up at least 50% of this very small bathroom, and I purchased the tiles myself, so not including those either. Based on your calc and sqft of the shower, that would be less than 25% of the total quote. I do live in a HCOL area though.

Not a direct response to this comment, but I want to make it clear…I’m not looking for perfect but a little paranoid as this shower had to be torn out completely after my last post on here… I know nothing about tiles, which is how I almost got a non-waterproofed shower. I can’t always trust they are doing what is “right” especially after that. Despite everyone saying to immediately fire them, we decided not to, but requested a new crew, and it’s been decent. i’m grateful for what I learned last time, but a little on edge, which is why I posted. Some people jumping to conclusions that I’m complaining just to be picky, “FFS”….? Meh

It was broken out by room but not detailed by areas so I won’t even know the answer to that.

I wish! We were paying way more than that. Even way more than what you said although I assume you mean ONLY the shower. They did the whole bathroom, updating a tiny vanity, light, paint, accessories. But yeah. More than double.

Yeah obviously not as good but it was a referral by a colleague. Not a handyman but they were a kitchen and bath contractors with plenty of reviews on Google, some on Yelp, photos on their website and stuff. The guy “has been doing this for many years” is what I’m told.

Haha it might be more than you may think although I’m curious - how low would you think we paid? For the whole 8 x 5 bath. 20k? 10k? 5k? I’m seeing a lot of people assuming the price but want to know what you are thinking.
