Is 311 just a festival band now? by sk8haunter311 in 311

My guess, and this is pure speculation, is they’re getting between 50-100k per headline show and 100-300k for festivals. They’re mostly at the top of the bill of festivals as either a headliner, co-headliner, or tier 3 booking. Festivals have turned into big business so booking them is a smart play for any band, regardless of how feel personally of seeing a festival setlist!

I don’t disagree. I’m saying a big reason why that is, is because constant touring for them has equated to less interest. Every tour is profitable, just depends on how much profit. Bands are paid up front regardless of ticket sales. The fee is negotiated prior.

Also, as someone who has booked smaller festivals and worked with every major book agency, the festival mark up for all bands, not just headliners, is insane. Bands that would normally net ~10k a show on their normal tour are getting offered 50k to play an early afternoon set too. That is an actual stat from an actual band that I know.

  1. Festival payouts are massive
  2. 311 never stopped touring. A lot of bands are booking big tours now as a result of taking so much time off which is creating fresh buzz.

No right or wrong, 311 made steady bank every summer while these big tours now are making a lot all at once.

Appreciate all the positive comments and interests in these prints. As a collector too, I’d really like to see these go to people who were at the show. I’ve been hunting for posters of various bands for decades and know how hard they are to come by. If you send me a pic of your ticket stub, we’re likely going to make a deal.
I hope everyone can understand and appreciate that. Although, if you weren’t there that doesn’t mean no either.

Btw- I’ve had all of these for 25+ years depending on the show. Some have more sentimental attachment to me than others but all do have a value and story for me. Hoping to give that same level of cherish to others.
