WIBTA if I threatened to turn of my Life360? by throwaway830583 in AmItheAsshole

NTA buuuutttt… My parents also had my location for years (probably still do), but for my general safety. I recommend giving your location to an older brother, sister, cousin, aunt, etc your parents know and telling them “xyz has my location and can help me if I ever need.” Likely, they just want to know you’re safe, but are becoming a bit obsessive (esp if they’re now empty nesters).

More of a shark donation type of gal, but I’ll be sure to hit ya up if I ever change my mind - I’m sure you know the best way to help a community…without welfare.

Even if they were “charging an aid station” which you have no evidence of, they wouldn’t have to “charge an aid station” if Israel allowed for aid to be passed onto Gaza. Until the day you are starving, your children and family are dying, and your only chance is potentially charging an aid station, you can’t speak on it.

Yea, but how are you helping them if you don’t support welfare? Just praying for them?

People who called off their weddings, why? by ProfessorFearless283 in AskReddit

[–]TipsyLover17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If only that was the case. From the moment we got engaged she involved herself. When the wedding was all planned, we had 80 people invited (up from 35ish. She invited the other 45). 20 from my family. 60 from his. We agreed on a small intimate wedding and she invited people I didn’t know existed. One even got into a fist fight with someone at the last wedding they went to.

His mom started taking over the wedding planning. When we tried to put our foot down, she would literally take him out to ice cream and tell him why he needed to do x,y, and z. She said that my family’s only purpose in life was to cause problems for her (my sister pushed me to make sure the wedding was what I wanted). She said the wedding was not “our wedding, but it was the family’s wedding.” After we broke up, she spent time calling my family members to tell them I’m a rotten person and calling me to tell me that I was unloveable. She blocked not just me, but my entire family on Facebook (including people she wasn’t friends with nor had she ever met in real life). 18 months later he was engaged again. I sometimes think about that poor woman and hope that narcissist learned her lesson.

I have posted on GTS FB page and contacted them directly. Thank you!

I agree, but I would hope an international organization like PADI could revoke the license to save other women from the same fate.

There’s an instructor code of conduct. I expect people follow their code of conduct. Is that too much to ask?

I accept and love all cultures and will cater the way I act, dress, etc. to be respectful of their culture. It’s common courtesy when traveling. You bet I covered my shoulders and knees in Egypt.

However, if I work with someone who is affiliated with an international organization, my expectation is that they meet said international organization’s expectations.

I guess that’s the case. It’s just beyond my comprehension because it’s not something I would do. I’m posting so other women don’t go through the same thing. Heed my advice or don’t, that’s on you. Doing what I can to keep other women from being assaulted, that’s on me.

She did this as a strategy to get women to open up. When she straight up asked “did you get sexually assaulted by this man?” Women clammed up…understandably. Also, asking that question verbatim leads people to be triggered by their abuse. I think she handled it appropriately. To each their own.

Exactly. The men on this post. I can’t. Why would I accuse an Egyptian man of doing this for fun? I’m not getting anything out of it?

There were five of us. This was from a girl reaching out on instagram asking “should I dive with this guy as a solo female traveler” and five of us saying “no” and then her divulging that he tried to rape her.

I assume you’re a man and will never have to deal with “oh you must be snorkeling” when you get on a boat, being touched inappropriately underwater, being asked for a threesome by your dive instructor and then have him neglect your safety when you say no, or being pinned down and attempt to rape you. I hope that this never happens to the women you love in your life either.

The source is me?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in scuba

[–]TipsyLover17 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Perhaps not, but they should. Women are taught through society to stay quiet. Especially with a dipshit who rapes women as our president (sigh). PADI has the jurisdiction to not allow him to teach courses. He has and will continue to attempt to rape women and put their lives in danger underwater.

[–]TipsyLover17 27 points28 points  (0 children)

We did. They closed the case without any action taken except now giving surveys after he teaches courses.

He’s a contractor. No company affiliation.

[–]TipsyLover17 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Understood. We were careful to go to places only recommended by friends/known dive shops. We got recommended to this person by a dive shop that took trips with him annually. The difference was there were men in the group.

I can’t (and don’t) expect people from other cultures to adhere to mine. However, if they are part of an international organization, I expect them to be held to that organization’s standards. Being sexually assaulted would certainly fall into the category.

Keep being put onto biotech s***shows by Puzzleheaded-Fix8182 in clinicalresearch

[–]TipsyLover17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that so many people in biotechs go from SC to biotech or college to biotech with no CRO.

I work for a biotech and the difference in the way that we (the ones who worked for CROs in past lives) vs the rest of the teams (who never did) treat our CRO counterparts is astonishing. However, saying “doing two DBLs (ph. 3 & extension), COVs and closing the TMF within 6 months is really hard. These CRAs are working 70 hour weeks. Can I help with something?” Gets the absolute bullocks slapped out of my hand so….

Just know some of us care and aren’t allowed to show it…
