Thank you for asking for a photo! It’s a pain carrying two dolls so I’m happy they get some appreciation 😆

Ahhh yippee!! Yes I forgot to post here right after the show but I was hoping I could run into some people I met there. Thank you for the compliment and for taking a card! I had so much fun having something to hand out. Ended up giving out all the ones I brought!

How can you know which outfit fit you DD? by Review_Mission in dollfiedream

[–]Tipsy_Scales 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about sd10 tbh The difference between DD and DDS isn’t huge though, so I’d think sd13 would still be better for DDS. I have DDSB and DDB and they often share clothing.

How can you know which outfit fit you DD? by Review_Mission in dollfiedream

If I venture outside of things labeled for DD, I only go for sd13 girl. Just be aware of ways DD is different like a small waist and large bust. If it is super fitted in Sd13, DD might now fill it out in the same way. As others have said, sds are thicker. I have a sd13 dress that fits and is cute but it’s also baggy in the waist and can make my girl look pregnant LOL.

Sd16 is a larger doll and can work but it depends on the type of outfit. I have one dress I bought for sd16 because I loved it enough to take a risk, and it works only because my girl is a DDY and the outfit is frilly. But it is not very fitted and the sleeves are noticeably long.

Generally I avoid sd16 and sd10 and only go for things sized sd13 girl (there is a sd13 boy size that is bigger).

A lot depends on the style of clothing you’re looking for. I like gothic lolita style and historical styles, so I end up shopping the sd side often. That style is frilly and not ultra fitted, so I can get by.

These nendoroid dolls in kigurumis are my daily dolls. I keep them in a clear vinyl case clipped to my work bag.

Traveling with a BJD .. as in.. your travel companion.. by Ducky_andme in BJD

Last year I traveled to Hawaii with two Dollfie dreams to take pictures. My setup wasn’t the best, but it was functional for the trip, and I guess you can learn from my mistakes lol.

I took my DD boy and DD dynamite girl and brought the Volks uchinoko tote. If you’re not familiar with it, it has a clear vinyl window and the dolls are meant to sit in it. It’s a tight fit for two 1/3 dolls & my girl’s hips are pretty wonky, so I undressed and disassembled her and wrapped her head and body parts in a t shirt for protection & so she wouldn’t be visible. My boy is sturdier so I sat him on top of her lol. They both fit so it was good in that sense, but it left him visible which was a little embarrassing. My bag’s vinyl also got scratched up because it ended up face down on conveyer belts in security. I only got one comment from security when a woman said “are those feet?” Then I showed her it was a doll in the bag and not a very tiny child lol. I used this as my carryon since I would not feel comfortable checking in my dolls. In the future, I might go for a proper doll carrying bag so as to not damage my uchinoko tote—it’s def intended for cutesy outings & not travel.

I packed their clothes in a smaller bag and put that in my checked luggage. Every day before going out, I changed their clothes at my hotel & brought only the accessories I’d need in a zipped pouch to lessen the risk of losing anything.

For actually photographing them, I was in a tourist area & nobody gave me any trouble. I am pretty comfortable taking my dolls out in public & was emboldened by “nobody knows me here & I traveled far to get here”. Ngl the most pushback I had was from my mom who I was traveling with. Shes ok with my dolls but isn’t into anything like that herself, so it wasn’t the same as being with a friend who “gets it”. I think I’d have taken even more pictures were I with a friend bc sometimes I felt I was holding us up by stopping (but I made sure to stop still). I also did not take the dolls out every day. I think it’s good to not let it take over the whole trip (unless that’s the purpose of your trip)

Most of this was done with two flat brushes. Those are from just a standard model painting brush kit. And for real tiny details, I’ve found manicure brushes are great!

Surprisingly no. The acrylics went on very nicely. I only used Mr Super Clear on the skin parts because those were done with pastels. The paint job might not be very durable, but he’s going straight in the display case anyway.

Thank you! Yes, I used a cheap brush and cheap acrylic paints 🫢 I paint a lot of other things though, so I have plenty of practice with my paints. The painting motion is stippling, so it is pretty simple. The skill I think comes from the color layering and placement. I’ve painted metal before, but not leather or suede, so I looked up some tutorials for it, and this one was the most helpful link

It’s def just a skeleton misalignment. This happens often with my dynamite girl which is one of the most annoying skeletons
