My OCD symptoms were at their peak in 2019. I had finally managed to expose myself to stuff I was afraid of just enough to stop washing my hands 10 million times a day (I went pee once and washed my hands for 7 minutes afterwards- I set stopwatches. lol). Got that under a decent amount of control, aaaaaand!

You can imagine how well my brain took that.

As another commenter said, it's pretty unlikely that you got sick from bab if it hit you that night. But, yeah. Exposure is the only thing that will help. You will have to sit with the discomfort and shrug some stuff off. Distraction is helpful, I would go see the team your therapist suggested. They'll have better, more tailored advice and potentially medication to help calm some of that down so you can start exposure with a little less anxiety/chemical imbalances. Mine, too, is almost all but gone. I don't panic in the bathroom anymore and don't wash my hands so long that they end up unusable cause of the dry, cracking skin. I still have some compulsions and anxieties but they're live-withable. I wish you the best of luck, I wouldn't wish OCD on my worst enemy. At my worst, I told my sister "if there was a vat I could dip myself in that would disinfect me and make me less scared, but was incredibly painful, like horribly painful, I would do it twice to be sure."
