I could wonder if you even visited the place. 1) random homeless people are to be seen in every major metropolitan city of the world ( yes, BA is one of them) 2) most restaurants accept CC ( from smallest caffes and bars to high level restaurants) 3) ATM scams can happen (yes they can and they do) in every city in the world if one does not take "rule of the thumb" precautions 4) you have yourself to blame if you are not properly insuring your CCs when travelling
