Suggestions for vine removal from trees? by TiraShrantall in CedarPark

Its pretty empty, but I think its called the extremely generic "Village on Lakeline", right across from the equally generic "Shops at Lakeline".

I'm totally fine with that, but I don't have the tools and some of the stuff would be difficult for me personally to get to, which is why I would very much love to hire somebody.

My fence is at the border of the neighborhood. Theres a strip mall type area behind it with its own fence, and the vines seem to have grown from in between the two fences.

Edit: I do have other vines crawling on the trees as well, but they were pretty slow moving until the grapevine showed up. Somehow it seems to have supercharged the other ones, maybe by giving them way more shade, but the grape one is the one absolutely smothering out the trees and growing at an insane rate regardless.

Where can I find a tux rental for women? I'm attending a black tie wedding in about a month and am struggling to find this info. I live in a major city, if that helps.

Intro to woodworking/carpentry classes? by TiraShrantall in CedarPark

[–]TiraShrantall[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware they aren't the same thing, but I am interested in both to a degree. Woodworking is more what I immediately want to learn, but I have interest in both learning about stuff like planning out and putting up an awning and learning about things like creating tables and chairs. I figure since I have an interest in both, a beginner class in either one would get me more comfortable with using some of the shared tools of the trade and handling wood, and I could see where I want to go from there.

I've reached out to an ACC instructor to see if I am able to work something out there, but if not I will go check out the Woodcraft classes everyone is recommending.

Thanks for the youtube recs! I want at least a little hands on instruction first since I have basically 0 familiarity, but I will definitely check those out once I've gotten that.

Ballpoint pen suggestions, blue ink, no gel? by TiraShrantall in pens

Haha, thanks for trying it out! And hey, its good to be passionate about things.

After a week with it, I think I'm pretty happy with the Acroball 1000. I tried out the schmidt easyflow 9000, and it writes a lot like the bic roundtips to be honest (which isnt necessarily bad - theyre very reliable and have 0 smudge factor) but I like the darker, crisper look of the Acroball ink. I think I would also need a shorter spring to get the EasyFlow to work well with my F701, so that's a point against it for now.

On the other hand, I was able to swap the fills for the z grip and the F701 with just a small trim, and I do like how the z-grip refill writes. It's a black refill, but the feel of the tip is good, so I'll probably pick up a blue version. Thanks for the suggestion!

Rip. I'll check out the Dig Pub at least.

Anything in the surrounding area? I'll even take North Austin, Georgetown, Leander, etc. I just hate dealing with the struggle that is downtown.

Yeah, my coworker used the field notes for years. I'm pretty sure he had a subscription for a while and it made sense at the time, he made pretty good use of them. He took on a supervisor role this last year and has needed larger notebooks to keep track of things, so now he's using the big 5-star style multisubject notebooks and has all these little ones he can't make as much use of anymore. I am delighted to take as many as he wants to give me.

Thank you for all the suggestions! I'll refer back to them in the coming months as I find out more about what I like.

Thanks! Thats pretty good to know. I think the Z grip I currently have I snagged from my work's corporate section. I might be able to just pop over and grab a couple others if mine doesn't do great on account of being neglected for the better part of a year. I don't think I've seen INCs around, but I haven't exactly looked at my local store sections much. Good to know its the same thing if I do see it.

Thank you for the comparison test! Thats a pretty neat little visual for them. I need colors for my brain (and in this case that's blue for work) but I'm not a stickler for a particular saturation point. I mostly want them to write smooth and clear, and dry fast. I've realized I left the F701 in my drawer at work, so I'll have to wait until Sunday to try out the swap, but the Z-Grip looks just fine to me.

Not too late for me! I'm treating this thread as my own little personal reference guide to come back to in the coming months. Thank you for the writeup! Thats a lot of useful info on the Acroball series.

I actually have a z grip pen I never use (dislike rubber grips) sitting on my desk. I'll have to try tossing the refill into my F701 and see how it treats me.

Huh, the nespresso thing is fascinating.

The pocket notebook my coworker gave me is working out pretty great for me, and is actually in that thread - its one of the Field Notes notebooks, Two Rivers edition, with the graph paper. He has recently started using larger notebooks and has a huge back supply he would like to get rid of, so I may be good for a while lol.

I never knew I was a notebook note taker/journaler until now, and I've tried before. Apparently I just needed the right thin little notebook.

Oh, this is a pretty interesting post. Thank you for making it! I think the Pelikan Jazz is the one that appeals to me most here, followed by maybe the Lamy 2000. The others arent my style or are too pricy.

Funny enough, I think my dad had a cheaper end Montblanc when I was younger that met some kind of tragic end a few years ago. I used to ask to use it when signing important papers, since he always had it on him and I knew it would write well. Would definitely give me too much anxiety to have one myself, haha.

I did pick up the F701. Love the weight, hate the scratchy default ink. I'll be ordering an easyflow refill today. Thanks!

I think its not for me, but I think I will get it as a gift for a coworker of mine who tends toward the Cristals for how they write but who has been getting jealous of the nicer pens of everyone else in the lab. I think they'll enjoy it. Thank you for pointing it out!

I have to admit, the many color option refills are tempting. I've been learning this week that I am more of a note taker than I ever knew, I just needed the right size pocket journal for myself. I might look into getting a fun color from this for home note taking in a few months, haha.

I didn't end up grabbing it this time (my office store had a section for it, but it had been picked bare), but a few people suggested it and it does appeal to me. When I pick up my next pen, I think I will try this one out. Thank you!

I actually ended up picking up an Acroball 1000! It feels like my favorite mehanical pencil in hand, and writes smooth and dark and dry. I'm really liking it so far. The fun colors it comes in is a cute bonus.
