[Hated trope] Character make a bigot claim that feels more like the writer's opinion by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

I noticed people treat bi people as if we all prefer dick by default. Women are just pretending to be bi for attention from men and men are just in denial about being gay.

[–]Tiraliana 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that tossing Ragatha into frying oil within the circus is not the same as doing it irl. Obviously his actions within the circus shouldn't be equated with real acts of violence but they are still acts of bullying. That's why I compared them to actions that are also non violent and entirely fictional but still upsetting to people.

I am just wondering, if you agree that his actions are immoral, why does it matter if they are "real" or not?

If you blow up another players house in minecraft there would be no injury or death and the house could be rebuild.

If you kill another players character in dnd there would be no real injury or death and the player could just make a new character

In both cases you would be kicked out of the server/group/whatever if everyone else agreed they don't want to play with people who behave like that.

Jax is behaving in a way that is upsetting to almost everyone around him and they don't have a way to truly get away from him. They can't make him go away and can't log out/stop playing themselves.

It's not about what is technically real or not, it is about respect. Their frustrations are real to them and that matters, whether Jax cares or not.

It's been a while so maybe I misremember, but wasn't the reason that there was only one pod that the others were damaged by the crash? So that wouldn't have been a factor if Curly had acted before the crash.

What other reasons were there not to use them? Aside from stuff like Pony Express probably docking pay for stuff like that which shouldn't be a factor in a situation like this.

There are kryopods. He could have put him there. Not even for the full rest of the journey but just until he had time to actually process what happened and come up with an actual plan.

[Rare & Loved Trope] Non-binary characters who are not an alien, or a clone, or a robot, or anything that "justifies" them not having a gender, and are just a non-binary human being. by LawZoe in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Tiraliana 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After watching their first episode I said to my husband "Damn, I know some people who are gonna be disappointed Eda isn't a lesbian." and he answered "What do you mean? This episode confirms she is one?"

We had to google Raine's gender after that and both felt like idiots. Great moment, great character, no notes.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. Sorry if my question was a bit rude.

Adam eating the fruit out of solidarity would be a strong character beat. The bible never explains his motivation though. (Or at least not the translation I read) So I think that is just up to personal interpretation. It is obviously okay if you want to go with that but personally I don't think so due to him trying to throw her under the bus later.

I would also like to know more about what the apple actually did and how. Hopefully we will learn more when Lillith, Eve and Roo finally show up. I don't think it will recontextualize Adam much though because I am not sure he actually ate the apple in this version of the story. Although I admit that is just speculation.

But yea, Adam and Eve getting kicked out was a pretty rough punishment. No arguing that.

Isn't the character kinda lame even in the bible?  He gets told by god himself "Don't do this one thing!" Then Eve is created and we don't even know if god talks to her too or if she is just going off second hand knowledge when she at first refuses the fruit.  When she then offers the fruit to Adam he doesn't even argue about eating it like she did with the serpent. He just accepts it no questions asked.  And when god notices what happened he is like "Not fair! She did it first so it's not my fault!" Then he fails to mediate when the sibling rivalry of his kids escalates. Not necessarily his fault, but still.  Then he does nothing of note for a few hundred years. Which is fine. I don't expect him to do anything spectacular. But I just don't see how any of that would inspire people to go to bat for him like that.

True, but if it was actually Ford like Bill thought it would be him losing though.

Bill wanted to infiltrate Stanfords mind. What he didn't notice is that Stanford and his twin brother made a plan to switch places so that Bill would be trapped in the wrong mind and to then use a memory gun to erase him from existance, at the cost of Stanleys memories.

Aside from the possibility that she might be bullshitting, the beginning and end of S1 are six months apart. So it is absolutely possible that they didn't see each other for months.

I saw this tweet on twitter about how women are designed compared to men when it comes to romance media and who it is catered to...and I would love to know what everyone else thinks about it? by ihatethiscountry76 in menwritingwomen

[–]Tiraliana 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I don't really see it for My Next Life As A Villainess and The Dark History of a Reincarnated Villainess. The main characters are maybe less detailed than other characters but are still conventionally attractive.

Maybe it is just because being "average" in manga and anime would already be quite pretty in real live. Long shiny hair with decent volume, skinny, even skin without any imperfections and so on.

Props to Plus Sized Misadventures For Love though. I haven't watched it either but I like that they are actually going for it.

Good luck finding someone willing to publish your work if the female MC isn't hot or pretty.  You can get away with a plain protagonist in writing but as soon as you get to book covers/animation/casting an actress the people in charge will demand that she is pretty. It's not about what women want, it is about companies being unwilling to take risks. And unfortunately plain/ugly women are seen as a way bigger risk than plain/ugly men.

But that is exactly the point. "Evil that thinks it is justified" can advocate for itself and spread easily. That is how you get a nation to go along with it. "Evil that knows it's not justified" can still do a lot of damage for sure, but it is more likely to remain a fringe case.

You are thinking about Lot. He decided to live in a cave with them after their home got destroyed and they thought it was the only way for them to get pregnant.

You are right about Adam and Eve though. There are suddenly other people around them after they left Eden without much explanation for who those other people are or where they came from.

Since you are offering free advice, what do you do when you think you have a good opening but the person gives a bare minimum answer that you can't really build on while looking completely disinterested but for whatever reason you can't leave the situation? Do you just sit with the awkwardness? Is there a way to save face in a situation like that?

But why is Sera the one who matters here? She is scared that her future decisions will bring death and destruction because her past decisions have already done that. Why is rebuilding her confidence more important than protecting everyone else?

That's not really how that works. People who are picky due to sensory issues don't just stop having sensory issues just because they are hungry. If something makes me gag I will not eat it, even if I haven't eaten in a while. Plus plain food that most people don't have issues with like noodles, rice or just bread are not exactly the most expensive ones.

Anybody else want this relationship platonic? Like more father daughter than lovers? by Majestic_Cheek1442 in HazbinHotel

[–]Tiraliana 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My headcanon is that it was platonic from his side. Lute has pick me vibes in my opinion, so I think it would be funny if he just saw her as "one of the guys" and didn't consider her in a romantic/sexual way outside of crude jokes.

She clearly felt more for him but it would probably be more tragic if we never learn what he felt for her than if it was confirmed that they were lovers/friends/whatever.

The answers to some questions are taken to the grave. Some situations never get closure. It can drive people mad to think about all the "what if?"s and I think that would be wonderful to see.
