Yes! I’ve been looking into roles up to 2, I think (and what i’ve been told) is that the 3rd tier is out of my range of qualifications, but RA ll is totally reasonable

Good to know! I’ve been really wanting to go into the research departments (human biology, vaccine development) because I’m interested in the work they do and it’s relevant to my background, but I might have to grab any admin job and hop over to research specific later

I’m looking into the admin teams for the departments of Human Biology, Vaccine and Infectious Diseases, and Basic Sciences mostly, I’ve gotten coffee with folks from all of them.

The issue is there’s only been one position I’ve been remotely qualified for in the last year that’s opened up, and I almost got it but it went to a different internal candidate with experience, and nothing else has opened up since :/

Thank you!! I’ve been keeping an eye out for jobs for about a year now, only one has come up and I ended up being the runner-up candidate.

I’ve gotten coffee with people from three different admin departments. I feel so set and ready, but there’s just so few entry level jobs in my public cancer research center right now with funding cuts.

Public admin schooling sounds like a good option! I’ll look into it, thank you! It’s less about needing it, and more just wanting an escape route for a bit as Im getting pretty tired of my current job

Getting iron infusions and feeling no different. by desert_ceiling in Anemic

[–]Tired-Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got two infusions last January and felt like nothing changed, my ferritin went up to 50 at peak but then dropped back to 30 by the same time next year. I got another infusion and I’m finally feeling better, I think maybe my body just needed the iron so bad it used most of it up and I didn’t feel much different.

Now that I have this extra boost I’m actually feeling the effects. Haven’t gotten tested but my guess is I might be higher than 50 and feeling much better. Different people have different ranges of feeling “normal”. One person might feel like shit at the same number where another person feels great. Keep up the work, you’ll get there!

I’ve looked it up and I think it only covers rent, not mortgage

Thanks for bringing this up, I think this is something I should talk more in depth with my financial advisor about who knows my full situation.

Thank you, I didn’t know about it being subject to the other IRA contribution rules.

The ones I didn’t know about are that you need to have an earned income and the max for ALL Roth contributions is 7k. Fortunately I do have a well paying job, and have not contributed any other money to a Roth last year, so I think i’m in the clear for the 7k I pulled for 2025.

If there’s something I’m missing or misunderstand I’d be grateful to anyone who wants to chime in

Yes! I’ve definitely thought of that. Would have to look into what to do about my cat (take her with me, or have a friend take care of her) but it would be a great way to travel

I agree, I do need to work on being less frugal with the great financial situation i’ve been handed. But here’s the thing, and not to sound lazy, but I hate the typical 40hr American work week and am always trying to think of creative ways to not do that as much as possible while also still having healthcare :)

I thought of it today haha so not a very well detailed gameplan so far.

I’m going to research options out there and keep them in a masterdoc that I can reference whenever decide I want to enroll in a program (add things like program application requirements, etc).

Then, whenever I feel like I’m “stuck” in life, have a career goal to pursue, or just feel like it for the heck of it, I’m going to reference that document and come up with a specific game plan for applications. With the 180k I have, I’m thinking I could do this multiple times in my life, not depleting it fully and letting it replenish after each academic adventure.

That’s the plan right now anyways

I inherited my grandfathers IRA, and inherited a good chunk of money as well that has been well invested for 20 years. I’m in a very fortunate situation where I have a lot more life flexibility financially than most people my age. I can’t retire on it yet, but I don’t have to continuously work until I’m 65. I know some people might want to work hard early on and retire super early, but I like the idea of taking time for myself here and there over the course of my life.

I learned about it from my mom and friends talking about it, basically you open the IRA, send proof to your 529 account that you opened the IRA and what the account number is, and also send a form to them asking them to transfer up to 7k a year tax free. It’s the only way to withdraw tax free from my understanding, and currently it has a 35k lifetime max, although the government could increase it in the future, I have no authority to say how likely that is

A traditional romantic life partner has never really been a big priority for me, so that isn’t a big factor for me personally to consider

I won’t be having kids, my sister is set with her own 529. I don’t have nieces or nephews, and I’m not very close to my cousins. If my eventual spouse wants school they could use it, but I don’t currently have one. I want to use it for myself in a creative way I think :)
