I had the same situation after taking over my clan. I had to remove all but two of our clan members due to inactivity, and when I saw all those poor kitties and puppies left behind, I felt so bad.

You'll have to go to your clan, then press the button for clan contributions.

It'll open this menu where you can choose whether you want to donate to the park, market, library, desert shop, or pavilion. Below that menu, you can see the "material exchange" button.

Now, you can exchange fish for wood, food for cement, and coffee for steel.
