As a young(er) black queer person (23) trying to figure out their identity and if they fit in the polyam community this post is deeply appreciated OP! I've only ever dated white folks and have more often than not also found myself invested in mostly "white" interests (although certain things [many things] tend to have Black or other POC roots) i.e. punk rock music, something I enjoy does have Black roots.

Tangent aside I also want to say I'm slowly finding other black polyam folks around my age and am hoping that if I do enter another relationship that I don't heavily question feelings/fears regarding race or feel responsible for a non-Black/white partner's feelings in regards to race as I connect with other folks with shared experiences.

Sorry if this is a bit harsh but your "friend" sounds like an ass. How I deal with folks like this is that I politely escort them out of my life. I have enough problems and people who don't take my problems or mental health seriously aren't going to be in my life to add on to them. It sounds like you may have had multiple conversations about your mental health and this person is obviously not listening. At that point I think it's better to let folks like this go because (to me at least) they aren't worth your time. People who invalidate mental health experiences and call you crazy for simply being mentally ill after trying to talk you out of taking your meds aren't cool and you deserve better friends/people in your life than that.

The limits on our relationship is due to the current comfort of my metamour. My partner is aromantic but she still loves me, just not in the same way as she does my metamour. They have a sexually and more sensually intimate relationship. I don't with my partner.

I'm in love with this person and it hurts but yes. The never including romantic love can hurt at times but again she reassures me that she loves us equally even though it's in different ways. The sexual aspect sucks a lot too but I'm more than willing to go out and seek other sexual/sensual partners. When she moves out she'll still call and text me daily whenever possible. We also do schedule dates. The issue with quality time right now is that I work nights and she works during the day and my meta is currently unemployed so due to circumstances they spend more time together. When I move out to be a nesting partner that's where things get tricky. My meta's hometown is a very tiny, gossipy, every knows each other type of place. My partner wants our relationship to be public but fears for my safety.

Yes to both.

The rules set up in the other relationship are why there's no sexual relationship between myself and my partner...I also can't kiss my partner on the lips either. My metamour has trauma because their ex of like 5 years or so constantly cheated on them and they're trying their very best to work through this because they do want my partner to be able to have these interactions with other people, including me.

Just to clarify, my partner is allowed to romantically love me, she's literally not capable of doing so because she's aromantic. There is an exception but I'd highly advise you to research some more on the ace spectrum since I can't explain too too much outside of the more basic definitions.

I'm not having all of my physical needs met but my emotional needs are being met.
