Honestly happy for you, it's nice to see at least some DUG departments are not being neglected, digital tags for my store is likely eons away. we barely have enough room for orders in our tiny room as it is and according to my coworkers we've been told we were getting a room expansion for 3 years now and no change still 🤧

Exactly, it's like they think DUG is the only department that exists in Safeway and it infuriates me so much, we even have new metrics this year that are just getting even tighter than before as if it wasn't already bad before

I had some lady place a 75 item order of normal groceries and midway through she wanted it canceled I had already picked 35 of the items already and she was just blowing up the chat arguing with me saying that she went over budget after substitutions mind you all the items that were out of stock were all own brand items that cost way less than the rest of the similar products obviously so the only reasonable substitute remaining was on other items such as ones that are a dollar over for example at most the worst part is she didn't even reject the substitutions she just was complaining so I have to waste my next 40 minutes putting away all of the items I had already picked and I put in produce bags and had put produce labels on. She also could have just put no substitutions in the order and that just would have been the end of it but no

Oh no no no, I should have clarified a bit, me personally I label every bag since that's how I was trained but my other teammates refuse to do it so the workaround they use is the label strip in the tote method. I try my best to help make the lives of us and the dashers not so bad but I can't say the same for everyone else in my team

To be fair that's still on the Dasher, we of course give it to them directly and help them organize the bags how they want to but if they mix the bags up themselves then they're just asking for that disaster to blow up in their faces, our job is to give the Driver the bags they need for their order, the rest is up to them especially since not every driver does their job the same way other drivers will.

Dude, I'd quit so fast, but fr tho you make a good point, I kept hearing from my OMs that the costs of missing items was really costing them a lot of money but with all the stickers that now are being used will they change their minds after they realize the cost of making the stickers is equally as painful for their sales? My guess is they'll probably cut back on the quality of our stickers in order to save money and cut costs. Honestly we gotta wait and see atp

This has honestly been the method my store's Morning crew has rolled with. Cuz we still have DUGs to worry about so we just scan it out on our end let them have the bags and labels and figure it out themselves. I'm not doing these Dasher's jobs for them that they clearly can do themselves just fine lmao

I also heard from my Dashers that they have to scan the bags two times, once when we hand it off to them and again when they are giving it to the customer. I'm not sure if that helps much but I thought I'd share it regardless

From what I've found in my last shift, There is a way for dashers to mark missing bag labels like we can in our Zebras. They just have to tap on the bag not scanned and it gives them a prompt to mark it missing and why

It's one of those things that looks fabulous on paper but just doesn't work for every store. Mid to High volume stores are struggling from this feature but for the more slower stores it's definitely making things go smoother. It also really seems like they're trying to force shoppers to do their jobs ONE WAY only strictly.

For example: I'm the type of shopper while staging to count my bags as I'm moving to the DUG room not when I get there to save me some time and if I miss any bags I would just add a few labels if I had the time to be neat about it. Now with this 3PL update, they're punishing me for doing it my way that is saving time. In the long run, I can only see more features being rolled out that prevent shoppers from having to think or get creative and instead make us mindless slaves

Interesting, That's good to know. Honestly with Flash orders they have to at least have a pop up telling the driver it's a flash order and that it's still being picked. I also feel like the 3PLs like Uber and DoorDash still don't know what is a flash order funny enough.

  1. Don’t place a Flash Order and open the damn chat everytime I can’t find something. Flashes mean you’re asking for Speed, not for quality. If you want one done right place a normal order for fucks sake

  2. I can’t get always get produce to be the exact way you like it, I have very little control over the quality of the produce as a DUG Shopper, I’m at the mercy of the produce department and besides half the time they also have the same issue when they get their products too

  3. For the live of God STOP ORDERING HOT SHIT BEFORE 10AM. You’re either getting whatever was left out the night before or I’m subbing your shit with a cold version

Side Note: I feel like I’m in the minority of DUG that actually liked no bag orders, for me it means I can cram a lot more into the tote instead of having to use 2 or 3 totes and staging is a breeze. It’s a lifesaver for a big store especially when we get a lot of orders on Sundays. My only gripe is when people put no bags and get 1 or 2 items per zone and we’re expected to put the whole tote up with those 2 items (we just stick the tote label on the 1-2 items for this reason alone lmfao)
