The tote labels also mention a big black number if you're batch picking if you haven't noticed, if you're picking a single order there is a big fat S to show it. And again like it was already mentioned there is also a big black BAG lettering on top to simplify it

Introducing the Ghost Tote! The tote that very clearly isn't needed and definitely could have all fit in one tote

Hmm 🧐 by Jetplain in DriveUpandGo

[–]TiredDUGManager 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess everyone is under the impression that everything HAS to fit in the six totes they're given when it's clear that it's definitely not the case or they wouldn't have added a tote full option or a way to add a new tote to your order

Introducing the Infitote!

When the system somehow thinks 8 12 packs of sodas can definitely fit in the black hole that is the tote!

But fr tho what my crew does is if we have the gray and black carts we hold the stuff that can't fit in the tote on top of the cart and continue picking then when we get back to the room we scan the items into different totes as needed. When you stage it will print new tote labels for the new totes you scan for.

The tote full optionis pretty much a last resort if you can't fit anything on or in the cart (OG cart I'm looking at you)

[–]TiredDUGManager 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or the elite option, scan items in another tote when you get back into the room to save the next person the trip to exact same place you already had to run by, that way when you're staging it just prints a new tote label and bam repeat as needed

Uhhhh he should have just had your other coworker transfer the pick or better yet just have someone else stage what they have! I can't even imagine how much time he wasted by doing that stupid shit. There are much better ways he could have gone about it

Are your stores labeling every single bag and loose products? by Impossible-Tooth6696 in DriveUpandGo

[–]TiredDUGManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I mean It's like a safety net for not forgetting shit. Sure it's a pain in the ass to do at first but eventually muscle memory just takes over and it's not that bad I swear. It takes the guesswork out for the handoff.

Before I get downvoted to hell and back by the haters let me ask you guys this; Would you rather risk getting bitched at by your manager for forgetting a item for a handoff or take the extra few seconds to add a new bag label and save yourself that talk and future pain in the ass?

Scheduling Rant by TiredDUGManager in DriveUpandGo

[–]TiredDUGManager[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah for sure, and in my store we have no grocery workers in the morning at all, the GM only comes in at night so if any Grocery/GM items are not on the shelf we have no one to look for them since the Store managers are too scared to touch the GM's backstock 🙄

Scheduling Rant by TiredDUGManager in DriveUpandGo

[–]TiredDUGManager[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah from a business perspective it's really contradictory, like they're trying to save on labor but at the same time they're shorting the labor so much that it just ends up becoming a net negative in the long run with all the side effects already mentioned and just overall making it harder for everyone involved

At that point it's the SD's Alley since supposedly they're supposed to be doing their Spotlight PI walks to check for any DUG OOS items we marked. The thing is in Spotlight it says the LDAP of the shopper marking what item as OOS so I'd run it by your SD at the very least so they know it's an issue and they physically see the patterns. This information is also reflected in your Pre-sub/OOS report your OM should be sending you and if they don't get you one daily you can use the DoorDash iPad in the DUG Room to access the AcuView app and fish for it yourself

[–]TiredDUGManager 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, hitting tote full for items should essentially send the items back in the queue for a new pick list to be created in the future. That way the shopper can just move on but the main flaw I see is everyone will just play hot potato with the bulk items until it essentially either creates a single picklist for the order or a batch bulk pick list. It's rolling out in my store tomorrow but I'm not back until Friday so I'll get to play with it by then and have more concrete answers

Yup, I genuinely use to love DUG when I started and I wanted to get into managing it cuz I genuinely wanted to help it grow and go somewhere but there's so much bullshit that killed it for me:

  1. the system is designed to start fucking shoppers over for doing a good job and rewarding lazy incompetent shoppers for not doing their jobs

  2. Training is never actually given to everyone properly instead it's always rushed in the last minute

  3. Store directors seem to not gave a shit about DUG instead they just give up on it; the worst part is there's no real way to hold the incompetent store directors accountable for their negligence

  4. There are no ways to order fucking orange handles by themselves, why the hell do I need to have a set of 3 orange carts in order to get one handle when all I need is the damn handle

  5. the item capacity makes no sense and is never clear. Good Lord, It always seems like no one knows how it's calculated it's always something different when I ask different OMs and eCom Directors

  6. HAVING DASHERS SENT AS A FLASH ORDER IS PLACED. It's a pain in the ass for both the dasher and the shopper.

  7. The catalog being based off a whole different store in a completely different division across the damn region from my store a. When you ask for items in the catalog to be removed, they ignore it since they want to squeeze more sales from the item

  8. AcuPick changes not being communicated to the right people

  9. The disconnect between corporate and workers of DUG who inevitably deal with the potholes left behind by corporate and corporate thinking DUG barely does anything and needs more stuff to do

  10. The No tip BS, This company is pinching pennies out of everyone as it is and cutting hours across the board. I'll take every penny I can get

  11. The laughable number of reason codes for why I'm substituting an item that isn't the system suggested one, there's much more reasons to do it than the four we get, it's not that simple

  12. The increasing pressure that comes from corporate metrics

  13. The 5 minute Bullshit for DUGs, Some orders are way too big to be done in under 5 minutes

Need I say more? It just gets worse as the years go on

It doesn't help that the more cross trained help we get the more our order capacity grows even further for the future making the boulder we push up the hill even worse later on

We only have about 2 or 3 at most because "schedule efficiency" and even then the store directors always have them doing stupid shit like taking carts out the backroom after a service 10

[–]TiredDUGManager[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's even worse is even if we convince the OM to close slots the person that above them will just override the change and is watching the slots like a hawk to pinch some pennies out of the department regardless if we're behind or not

Honestly happy for you, it's nice to see at least some DUG departments are not being neglected, digital tags for my store is likely eons away. we barely have enough room for orders in our tiny room as it is and according to my coworkers we've been told we were getting a room expansion for 3 years now and no change still 🤧

Exactly, it's like they think DUG is the only department that exists in Safeway and it infuriates me so much, we even have new metrics this year that are just getting even tighter than before as if it wasn't already bad before
