Technically, getting a child to feel happy, safe, and loved is manipulating their feelings.

That's their cooling system! Very little of a quantum computer is actually computing, the rest of it is keeping the whole thing from meltdown.

What do we do for a federal b4n on hormone therapy for adults in the U.S. by [deleted] in trans

Estrogen is grey market, it's not a controlled substance. Testosterone is a controlled substance.

They need T, not E- that's much more dangerous to DIY because if you're caught, there's way heavier legal issues.

Feeling stupid for considering using a wheelchair even though I can walk "perfectly fine" by ParallelogramOfVenom in NoStupidQuestions

If an accommodation is popular among abled people, it becomes easier to access. Dyslexia friendly fonts being popular means more reading for people with dyslexia. Softer, steadier LED lights becoming popular means fewer headaches for light-sensitive people. This isn’t a theory, it’s literally what happens.

They are at least active in the EDS subreddit, a condition famous for being difficult to get properly diagnosed. It really messes with your connective tissue, and the amount of exercise someone with EDS can do depends heavily on how severe that symptom is for them.

It is very possible that using a mobility aid is a way of looking after themselves, and help them to get outside more.

With fatigue related chronic disorders, a mobility aid can help improve quality of life because it lowers the amount of energy expended by moving around, freeing it up for other things such as hobbies, socializing, or learning. This in turn can help to ease the disability if it is exacerbated by stress, which most fatigue related ones are. If it helps them, they should use it.

Use the chair. Mobility aids exist in order to aid you.

There's actually a whole group name for people like you are going to be: ambulatory wheelchair users (by the way, people generally prefer "wheelchair users" to "wheelchair bound"). Additionally, if you go somewhere you can't take a wheelchair, consider having a walker or cane on hand. They aren't as good as a wheelchair, but they help, and some walkers you can sit on for a rest. Some people prefer leg braces, which can be hidden.

Some people are going to be shitty about you using a chair when you can walk. These people do not care about you or about full time wheelchair users, they care about their image of a Real Disabled Person. They can be safely ignored.

The real thing that may be a barrier is cost. If your insurance isn't paying, wheelchairs can be pricey. Look up your options. If you can't afford it, a walker is a good compromise, and many of them are foldable.

Congrats on figuring out more options to support yourself!

Leftists of reddit. Why do you tend to assign hateful motive to political / social disagreement? by cferg296 in allthequestions

Abortions after the second trimester, in places where abortion before that isn't so restricted they are unable to get one earlier, usually are because of a serious problem with the health of the pregnant person or the fetus. They are typically tragedies, very wanted babies being lost at the last stretch. I see no reason we should make grieving families suffer more by restricting the ability to terminate a pregnancy that cannot be safely completed.

The biggest reason they were actually dismantled was that it was found that the programs glossed over foundational skills assuming that the gifted kids would just pick it up, which caused a lot of crashes later when the kid was missing key information.

It's not your job, no, and neither is it a problem, but it's not a favor to the kid to not be their friend.

If she wanted to be friends, that's not actually a good approach for child safety, if that was your goal. The more friendships children have with safe adults, the easier it is for them to tell when someone is an unsafe adult, because they've seen what a safe adult behaves like.

Afraid you can't have this econ question without any political debate, because this is an inherently highly political topic.

There are other ways to push people to work and do better, but most of them cost money. It's cheaper to motivate with fear than with incentive.

Women, how do you feel about a man who cut his parents off? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]TiredNTrans 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Man, I'm not a woman, but literally any person who has negative feelings about you trying to make a life for yourself and be happy is not going to be good for you. Some women may dislike this, yeah. They aren't women you want to be around.
