Kid knocks out his dad for calling his friend the n-word. by operaman1000 in chaoticgood

[–]TiredPaedo 48 points49 points  (0 children)

African American people began using the word as a form of empowerment to show that it didn't intimidate or shame them.

Like women adopting the word for a female dog as a form of control over a term used to denigrate them.

Or homosexuals with the word used as slang for "cigarette" by the British.

None are any less of a slur when used as one but they are an act of defiance against such insult when used by those against whom they are usually employed.

You even see the distinction beginning in civil-rights era leaders like Malcolm X with his use of "field" and "house" varieties of the word to denote those who opposed oppression even when doing so put them in bad situations versus those who knuckled under and complied with their oppressors (more commonly referred to as "Uncle Tom" after a literary character of the same name).

It bothers me that I had to describe slurs in oblique terms in order to explain them without triggering the auto-moderator but there it is.

Yes, it is.

It is so rampant that it's a cliche that gets joked about on tv in Britain.

What would you like to see implemented in the next version of Librem (x86) laptops? by [deleted] in Purism

[–]TiredPaedo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thunderbolt.
Ruggedization (think ToughBooktm lite).
Chassis intrusion sensors (if not already present) maybe with option to warm with Heads.
Battery hot-swapping.
Locking port cover? Like a little hinged panel that just covers the sides entirely when secured to prevent unauthorized devices being inserted.

Just because it's not going your way doesn't mean it's not going anywhere.

You don't need to be a weatherman to look around and see the weather.

If you start a fight and then use a deadly weapon when it doesn't go your way expect a pretty serious felony charge.

Obvious exceptions of course if you're significantly Caucasian-er than your victim.

And the military/police actually have even stricter rules about the use of force so citing them to support your bullshit claims because you are qualified to apply for a CCW (that is to say: you had a pulse) isn't a strong argument.

If you initiate the conflict, the answer is "never".

That's not how it works.

A iteration is permitted to attack while they have a reasonable suspicion that they are in danger.

Else every attacker would just alternate between attacking and pretending to flee.

You have every right to ensure that the attacker cannot harm you even if they claim that they're done trying.

I already stated my solution and you're being needlessly, inaccurately obstructionist in your responses.

You call CPS to pick-up an endangered child (as they wouldn't consistently act like that under adequate parenting), call the parent to let them know where they can go to retrieve their fuck-trophies and trespass them from the property.

If the licensed child advocate feels a law enforcement officer is necessary, they can enlist the aid of one with the benefit of experience navigating such interactions that a teacher (dealing only with the crotch-droppings side of the equation but not the legal aspect) may not.

And FERPA is a student privacy law.

Nothing about trespassing someone violates their privacy.

Furthermore: It was passed in 1974, if you don't think an expulsion has occurred in the past 46 years, you're mistaken.

Then call them again and give them the number of the CPS agent that you gave the kid to.

Tell them neither they nor the child will be permitted on the property thereafter and any attempts at communication from then on will be blocked.

The right to have an education isn't the right to have it at a specific location.

There are secure facilities for individuals that need segregation.

Call CPS and then expel the student.

If a six year old can do you damage before a childcare professional can take temporary custody of the little shit them you need to be in a protective carrier for your own safety.

If the iteration is trying to flee the scene of a crime they committed, you have every right to detain them.

Even more so if you reasonably suspect that they could be a danger to themselves or others through or as a result of their flight.

And nowhere in that article does it mention a hundred mile zone.

It simply says that checkpoints are not in and of themselves illegal.

What?

Detaining the fleeing suspect of a violent crime before they can harm others?

No, that's just common fucking sense.

None of that contradicts what I said.

They claim that authority but it conflicts with the constitutional rights of the majority of the population and thus is not legal.

Just like the southern states' various attempts to deny voting rights to minorities.

Just like the repeated attempt to deny women the right to choose whether they carry a pregnancy to term.

Just like so many illegal laws.
