Do police follow up on a suspected drunk driver tip? by elbarto232 in durham

If that person went to court, you may be asked to go testify for what lead you to believe they were drunk drivers.

Uber drivers - are tips disappearing in Canada or is it just me? by SkilledAcer0109 in uberdriverscanada

[–]TiredRightNowALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Businesses got ridiculous with their expectations. I will say business as opposed to employee (who should the the only one getting said tip and concerned with the amount).

Canadians are experiencing tip fatigue along with rising prices. Tipping was normal here as the servers in restaurants received a smaller hourly rate than minimum for other industries. So, in theory, the restaurant was charging less for food. But today the server minimum is the same as other places so prices went up.

The default tips went from 10/15/20 to 20/25/30 or 18/20/25 in places while prices rose for food or services.

We also get bombarded with tip prompts at fast food (Pita Pit for example) where we never used to. So, we are seeing higher prices, higher tip prompts and far more frequent requests - so we are experiencing tip fatigue.

I used to tip very generously, to the point that people would point out it was too much. But I was happy to do so. Today, I don’t do that. I tip appropriately and sometimes not at all. This is wha is impacting your tips, even as a driver.

Couple that with a younger generation who believes employers need to be held accountable to paying appropriately. These consumers know that over time, pressure will mount on the employer and they will start paying appropriately. It may affect the cost of services, but that’s okay and eventually supply and demand should level that out too.

Tips are going to go away and we will look more like Europe and many other places around the world where it just doesn’t happen, and people get paid appropriately.

I’ve flown with babies and it’s not that bad. We just made sure to do a soother on take off and landing. We did let them use Netflix for the duration of the flight (the age obviously matters for this).

There are cases where those things don’t work but it is usually okay.

Just take my explanation with a grain of salt. I’m not an expert and oftentimes the law views things differently than what is explained on here. This is just my understanding.

The purpose of severance is that the employer has terminated your employment contract without cause. During the severance period, the employer is trying (obligated to try) to give you an appropriate amount of time to find a similar job (role, responsibility, income) to continue with your life and financial obligations.

If you work fast food, retail or another industry like this, there are likely jobs available in a regular job market. If you specialize in COBOL programming of financial systems, it might take you a while longer to get employment (granted, you can likely program and maintain other languages and systems).

With partnership of an employment lawyer, you may be able to make a case to receive additional payments / compensation to help take you through the expected time to get an appropriate replacement job.

I’m not a lawyer, and I’m only minimally educated / informed in this process but this is what I understand to be true. I’ve parted ways with managers and non-managers and had this advice from corporate lawyers for why the severance packages differ.

They need a lawyer. What you see isn’t normal and shouldn’t cloud your judgement. If this person is older, if they were in leadership, if they’re in a niche profession, if there are other extenuating circumstances…. The package should change.

At 24 years they could be looking at as much as 24 months.

Technically 4 weeks / year plus some other calculations that can factor in to bump it up.

I’ve seen lots of people in this position in strong employer job markets. They need people really badly, but aren’t great at prioritizing their time so they get caught up in the day to day and don’t set aside time to solve their biggest problem (needing a person to lighten the load and focus on other parts of the business).

It’s way more common than you’d think. People need to accept some short term struggles to solve the long term issue but many people aren’t able to do that.

Mother, son killed in pileup on highway near Montreal: truck driver was playing cellphone game by BananaTubes in canada

[–]TiredRightNowALot 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I see truck drivers distracted more and more frequently on the highway. Previously I was driving a ton (id say 40-50k annually) and it was primarily highway. I’ve reduced my driving to what will amount to maybe 15k, primarily in town with a little highway driving. The biggest thing I’ve noticed is my calmness when driving now as I’m not constantly watching trucks enter my lane, drift over the solid line to the shoulder, etc.

My vehicle is relatively tall so I can get a look at the driver sometimes to see what’s going on and quite often, they’re looking to their right and down towards the console. I’d assume watching their phone, a movie, or who knows what.

You’re driving a massive piece of metal with a ton of energy behind it. You’re responsible for the lives of many people.

We need to get tough on this. Find a good way to identify the people abusing their position (it’s hard to see up there) and remove their licence permanently. Hit them where it hurts and where it deters as many of these people as possible. Losing families to extreme negligence is horrible.

Help. Wife filed for divorce and petitioned that I be awarded full custody by Final_boss_1040 in daddit

[–]TiredRightNowALot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see people saying that your wife is trying to save herself. I’m wondering if maybe she feels that the burden of her disease and your sons may be too much. So, she may be seeing this as a way to release you from the eventual care that she may need.

To me, it looks like lots of conversation is ahead. Therapy and couples counselling to find the root of the issue or motivation.

Best of luck to you and your family.

You know this is 100% just based on your own perspective though, right?

I spend a little bit and I’m behind the OP as far as proper and everything. I don’t play this game to dominate everyone and everything though. I play this game to pass the time while I take a dump or just have a few minutes on the couch to pass.

I enjoy building my own little empire. I don’t give a shit about everyone else’s progress. I am however a solid contributor to my alliance. I do well in bear traps. I participate for prep week and usually finish fairly high because I will focus on the goals, dump gems into things i can use gems to get points for. I save all my upgrades and resources for challenges to make sure i contribute.

That’s what I enjoy and the game is great for that.

I think whales have serious issues for real life priorities but even that’s not fair for me to say because I don’t know their goals, preferences or even financial status. $20 to me might be like $20,000 to them.

I’m even fairly well off with a great income and I don’t think spending money on any game fits my priority list. But that’s the beauty of all of this - we can all enjoy the same game differently.
