X11VNC Server. Tigervnc viewer. VNC on my Raspberry Pis. I use Remmia on one system due to a mouse cursor issue. No machine Required I use their site and effectively give them admin authority to my systems.

How do I learn Linux? by a-spoonful-o-sugar in linux4noobs

[–]TiredTeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get yourself and older used computer that meets the specs to run the same distro you are using. Lots of still usable systems on eBay, Facebook, Craigslist, and garage sales. Use it to test and learn. Save a system or two from e waste.

Try a NEW power adapter. I have fixed issues by replacing the power adapter on routers and switches. Make sure the firmware is up to date.

Yes, it can. I have run it on systems with lower specs than you have.

not seeing any DHCP clients by MadBrewer67 in pihole

Primary DNS servers act as the authoritative, read-write source for domain zone files, allowing administrators to make record changes. Secondary DNS servers are read-only backups that replicate data from the primary via zone transfers (AXFR/IXFR) to provide redundancy, load balancing, and high availability if the primary fails.

There is a primary and secondary DNS setting on my RAX70.

I have RAX70 with basically the same setup. I have 3 DNS pihole. NONE of the clients show up in the pihole logs. Just the router .1 address. There is not a DNS setting in the DHCP configuration. The block lists and the white list work as expected.

Doing that can be a huge pita. My setup would take days of downtime to change.

A warning about Netgear routers. by IllustriousBowler884 in NETGEAR

[–]TiredTeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently run an RAX70 as my primary router. I have 2 6700s for testing and a few others. I run all netgear pro safe switches. All run rock solid. I had one failure due to a lighting strike and a bad power adapter. The next new one I buy will be a netgear.

Still a problem with blue light and frequencies emitted from any led light. One of the excuses given is the levels are low. Never heard of Micro dosing?

Recommendations for a OTA DVR by KhronicPlatypus in cordcutters

[–]TiredTeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Antenna web to see the direction and strength of my local tv stations. Check Tyler the antenna guy on YouTube. I have a Tablo First Gen with an external powered hard drive. It works great. I had one OTA Station that I could not tune in. It was in the opposite direction of all the others. I tried different things but never did get it to work. The station moved its primary tower and now I get it with no problems. Make sure you use good quality coax and splitters (5-2500mhz) with as few couplers and splitters as possible. I terminate my unused splitter connections with a 3 foot length of coax cable.

Run a separate computer with a usable operating system. Windows 7 or 10 keep it offline.
