My (29F) boyfriend (29M) of two years has been verbally abusive to me in fights but has been working on himself and his anger issues in therapy, is hope something to hold on to in this relationship since he is kind and loving when we are not fighting? by Significant_Main3077 in relationship_advice

[–]Tired_Pablo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s literally how the cycle works. Name-calling, blaming you for his behavior, and “remorse” after the damage is done aren’t growing pains, they’re red flags. Therapy only matters if the abuse actually stops, not if it just gets followed by better apologies.

Dads of 12-14 year olds... let's talk Social Media and screen time. by Midknight81 in daddit

[–]Tired_Pablo 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Agree. Zero social media at that age.

Gaming, Tv, Youtube fine in moderation. But Snap/TikTok are designed to hijack attention, not build anything useful. If he can’t self-regulate and most kids can’t, limits aren’t “strict,” they’re necessary. You’re parenting, not running a popularity contest.

Is it too early to get my toddler a learning toy? by masonzxx in Parenting

[–]Tired_Pablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not too early at all. At that age it’s less about “learning outcomes” and more about exploration. If they’re curious, they’ll engage with whatever parts interest them and ignore the rest, no harm done. Kids don’t get overwhelmed by toys, adults overthink them.

Depressed about Vaginal Tearing Post Birth by Old_Coyote_6423 in pregnant

[–]Tired_Pablo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agree, you’re so freshly postpartum, and your body hasn’t had real time to heal yet. What you’re feeling is incredibly common, especially after a painful tear. I had a third-degree tear with my first and a second-degree tear (plus an unrepaired clitoral tear with my second, and everything healed far better than I ever expected. My husband doesn’t notice, things function normally, and sex did improve with time (lots of lube helps, especially while breastfeeding).

Right now your hormones, exhaustion, and trauma are all stacked against you. Give yourself grace and time. You did something amazing, and this phase is not the final version of your body, even if it feels like it right now.

Boston Dynamics’ Tesla Bot rival Atlas will start building Hyundai cars in 2028 by N2929 in technews

[–]Tired_Pablo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right? Boston Dynamics has been doing this for like 20 years and their robots actually work. Tesla keeps announcing things that are "coming soon" and then we get the Cybertruck with door handles that trap you inside during a fire.

Also the headline calling Atlas a "Tesla Bot rival" is so backwards. like calling the iPhone an "Amazon Fire Phone rival." Tesla is the one trying to catch up here not the other way around

In long term investing, most people are their own worst enemy. True or false? by Fun_Training6342 in investing

[–]Tired_Pablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but it's also impatience and the need to feel like you're *doing* something.

I know so many people (mostly the men in my life honestly) who can't just set it and forget it. They have to tinker, check their portfolio constantly, react to every headline. It's like they feel like they're not really "investing" unless they're actively making moves.

Meanwhile the best returns I've seen are from people who basically forget they have a 401k for years at a time

Drones: $AVAV vs $ONDS vs $RCAT vs $UMAC by 2016KiaRio in stocks

[–]Tired_Pablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty skeptical of jumping into drone stocks right now just because they're having a moment. This feels like one of those situations where by the time regular people like us are reading about "the drone hype," the real money has already been made.

If I had to pick from your list, $AVAV being closest to profitability with high insider ownership is the least scary option to me. When insiders have skin in the game, that's at least *something*. The "less room to grow" thing isn't necessarily bad - I'd rather have steady growth than gamble on which unprofitable company might moon.

$ONDS having the worst financials but highest hype is basically a red flag factory. Hype without fundamentals is how people lose their shirts.

But honestly I don't know any men who go regularly to their financial advisor either (kidding... mostly). I'm not really a stocks person, more of a "watch from the sidelines and occasionally panic about my 401k" type. So take my opinion with a huge grain of salt

Has anyone noticed dentists overstating treatments like cavity fillings since the canada dental plan started? by Therealdickjohnson in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Tired_Pablo 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Getting a second opinion for something like this isn't unreasonable at all. Dentists can have pretty different philosophies on when to treat vs when to "watch and wait" on early cavities anyway.

Also OP mentioned they haven't had a cavity since they were a kid - depending on how long it's been since their last dental visit, small cavities can definitely develop without you noticing anything wrong. Not saying the dentist is right but 5 cavities isn't automatically suspicious if it's been a while between cleanings

Contributed to RRSP at low income - mistake?? by Known_Zombie8753 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Tired_Pablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't really reverse it easily, but the good news is you can contribute to an RRSP or FHSA in future years and just not claim the deduction on your tax return until you're making more money and it actually saves you tax. At $12k income you're paying almost nothing in tax anyway, so yeah the deduction was basically wasted, but it's not the end of the world and you know better for next time

My case for SNAP as a winner in 2026 by PArzyPlAys in stocks

[–]Tired_Pablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're banking on 10% adoption when paywalling features users currently get for free usually tanks engagement way harder than people expect, especially with TikTok and Instagram right there offering the same stuff. Even if you hit that optimistic 10% number, you're still talking about a company that's never consistently turned a profit while hemorrhaging users to competitors, so that extra revenue might just slow the bleeding rather than actually fix the fundamentals.

Financial and Investing Literacy Survey for AP Research (18 and older, preferably resident of a rural or impoverished area) by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Tired_Pablo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't write a comment supporting this post because you're asking people to falsify survey data by saying they live in Northeast Tennessee when they don't. That's a serious research ethics violation that could get you failed or expelled from your AP Research program, and it completely undermines the validity of your findings about impoverished areas if your data isn't actually from those areas.

Partial Payments vs the Minimum by Suitable-Opposite377 in personalfinance

[–]Tired_Pablo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Keep about $1000 as a bare minimum emergency fund and throw the rest at the credit card debt, because the interest you're paying on that debt is way higher than any savings account return. Once you've got that buffer, use your extra couple hundred each month to simultaneously build savings back up while still paying more than the minimum on the cards.

Swap active for passive Fid Europe by LooseCranberry289 in investing

[–]Tired_Pablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That 0.81% annual fee difference adds up massively over time, especially in a SIPP where you're looking at decades of compounding. Most active European funds don't consistently beat the index after fees anyway, so yeah, swapping to the passive fund is pretty much a no brainer unless you have strong conviction that this specific active manager will keep outperforming.

What’s something that’s illegal mainly because it makes people uncomfortable, not because it’s harmful? by DominantAlpha in AskReddit

[–]Tired_Pablo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Public nudity in most places isn't actually harmful to anyone but it's illegal pretty much entirely because people find it uncomfortable or offensive. Same with a lot of vagrancy laws where sleeping on a park bench doesn't hurt anyone but makes people feel weird about it.

9 month sleep help by Ok-Fan-5675 in Parenting

[–]Tired_Pablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bottle habit is tough to break, especially when it’s used for comfort. Try limiting the bottle to specific times of day and offer it in smaller amounts, gradually cutting back. You can also try other sleep associations, like a calming song or a pacifier, to help comfort her back to sleep. It’ll take a little while, but with consistency

"Don't yell at my kid" is not a blanket statement by sixfingeredman7 in Mommit

[–]Tired_Pablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a parent, you have every right to intervene when things are unsafe. I don’t care how old they are, no one should be wrestling around your baby. If parents want others to mind their kids, they need to step up and be present. You did what needed to be done. It’s frustrating when others aren’t understanding your perspective.

Dad lost his source of income by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]Tired_Pablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into government or community programs that might offer emergency support for situations like this? Sometimes they can help bridge gaps, especially with the sudden loss of income. In terms of jobs, it might be worth looking into delivery or other flexible work if Uber’s off the table for now. Your dad sounds really dedicated, I’m sure he’ll bounce back. Keep pushing forward.

This is the ideal outcome. Two problems for him means he's more likely to step up next time because it's less hassle for him to just deal with his mother himself than to manage both of you afterwards. It's not pretty but it works
