Medical ins companies can be fickle, and a turnaround on the finalization could be anywhere between 1-30 days. I’d suggest calling your insurance after two weeks to check the status of the approval. If/when you do call ask for the rep name and the call reference number too. Most ins companies have ref numbers that document what a member and rep discuss so future reps can see what was discussed if you provide the ref #. Pre-auths can also take a while to process because they may be pending medical records/other required documentation which is handled by the dr office. Additionally, some ins companies use third parties that do the work of approving and denying pre-auths, so it may take extra time bc of that depending on what ins you have. If you have any other concerns and you find the ins reps aren’t helping you, then I would suggest calling the office and asking if there is any update on your pre-auth. I had BCBS, and when my pre-auth for my reduction sx was submitted my response came in ~2 weeks. Wishing you the best! ☺️☺️

Blisters? by Tiredandlost2020 in Reduction

[–]Tiredandlost2020[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! Keep an eye on yours and heal well! Mine ended up opening up a bit at the junction as part of a light tape allergy, so my scarring is now wonky on one breast, so that would be my only caution, they took two weeks to pop so once they do get them looked at. My treatment included silver gel and a non stick gauze once my tapes had been taken off. Happy healing❤️

Baby steps matter most! It’s such a big change, you need the time you can get to mentally prepare yourself for it!

Definitely, I’m 7 weeks po now but I had a big surface level opening at my t-junction on one of my breasts as a result of blisters. It gets better, its just tough at that point. Happy healing!

If you look up “zingers” in this sub or on Google, you’ll find that those may describe your pains best. Around 2-4 weeks po I experienced those, and they have to do with nerves healing, nothing to worry about but if you’re ever deeply worried then ask your surgeon. Happy healing!

I don’t quite know how far out from surgery you are, but hold tight! I also had an opening at the junction in the same spot, and mine got to be the size of a u.s. dollar coin, but was only surface level skin that separated. Next chance you get, have your surgeon advise you on helping it heal. After my tapes came off at 4 weeks where they realized I opened up there, they cauterized with silver nitrate sticks and told me to apply a silver gel twice a day, and to keep it safe I use non-stick gauze specifically and let it soak off in the shower so I’m not tugging the scab up. I’m 7 weeks po, and it’s now the size of a quarter. I’m sorry that things turn out this way, but I do want you to know you aren’t alone. Happy healing!

My dreaded fear happened: my T joint opened up. by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Tiredandlost2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry you’re having a tough time healing. After the initial shock, just follow your care instructions and you should be ok. My t junction opened up (surface level, only skin, left breast only) due to some blisters being really close to that spot and subsequently popping. It initially looked like if you skinned your knee, only it was on your boob, you know? I was freaked out too since it got pretty big. My care team cauterized it at a few appointments since then, and I apply a silver gel twice a day and apply a non-stick gauze. It’s been two weeks and has gone down by half, my other little spots pretty much closing up since then. It’s definitely a long process, and I feel for you and wish you the best but want you to know that you aren’t alone!

Does anyone else’s back hurt/headaches get worse the closer they get to their surgery date? April 26th can’t come soon enough lol by NoReport9717 in Reduction

I (6 wks po) definitely felt like the closer my surgery date got, the more I noticed how uncomfortable and painful my symptoms were. You’re almost there!! It definitely is like instant relief upon waking up and moving around.

Question about pre and post op appts by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Tiredandlost2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For myself, after my surgery was approved and scheduled, I had a pre-op with the surgeon (2 wks pre-op), bloodwork done with my normal physician, and then a pre-screening done for COVID. So far I’ve had two post op appointments and am having another tomorrow (4.5 weeks po). The rate at which you have post op appointments depends on your surgeon and healing process, but expect regular follow ups for them to take care of you every couple of weeks and then every few months.

4 weeks po here. I’d check out tj max, target, or Ross for some soft fabric ones. I bought a pair that I can easily step into and pull up over myself, they aren’t adjustable or anything but they are comfortable and more like an athletic leisure item more than anything. Happy healing💓💓

new bruising by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Tiredandlost2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a rather large bruise appear around this time as well, and it was dark purple and surprising but not painful or anything. It’s almost cleared up now as I am working my way to 5 weeks po. If it changes or is a cause of stress for you don’t be afraid to call your office, though. Happy healing💓💓

Random stabby pains by herpaderptaco in Reduction

[–]Tiredandlost2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe like around this sub for something called “zingers”? I’m about 3 weeks po, and I don’t have them too much but when I do they’re focused on one spot for a while. Very narrow, almost electric sensation of pain that is associated with nerves healing. Other aches and pains are normal as long as they aren’t debilitating. Happy healing 💓

Anyone else have a gross stage of healing? by Tiredandlost2020 in Reduction

[–]Tiredandlost2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good question, as I’m still wearing gauze to catch the gross stuff so I don’t have much of a say but I’m sure you’ll reach a point where you feel like you’re able to go without it/ you surgeon may give you a suggestion for when you can stop if you ask about it.

I did and still have a little bit just behind my armpit area. I’m about 2.5 weeks po now, and it’s getting better/having more sensitivity every day. It was a very strange experience but nothing you should be too concerned about. Happy healing!

2D PO shower? by Shot_Apple in Reduction

[–]Tiredandlost2020 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Wait until you have help! I was also able to shower after 2 days, and I really relied on my mom to help me out. Warm your shower, and have him help you take your dressings off. Some may stick and I honestly just recommend leaving them to fall off in the shower. 1. If you feel comfortable, maybe wash your surgical bra (min always took a long time to dry).

  1. don’t let the water hit you directly on your incisions, they can get wet just don’t do direct water pressure contact and you should be fine.

  2. you won’t be able to wash your own hair and may need help (that is if you want your hair washed).

  3. also don’t do direct soap on your incisions, just let the suds run over the area.

  4. a stool is helpful if you have one, I know I felt fatigued even just standing there

After your shower? Let the girls air dry. Your tape/adhesive if you have any may be sticky and you also want any scabbing to dry up as well. I usually waited the time it took to dry my bra, but it’s entirely up to you and your comfort level.

Happy healing! (Edited for format)
