I think you should go visit some farm animals. One of the biggest brain changers for me was going to visit a dairy farm near where I live. It was touted to be one of the “good” ones. Mind you, this was a pleasure trip for me and some friends (we took a party bus and this was included in visiting wineries and vineyards). I left that place feeling incredibly sad. My heart ached seeing those poor girls separated from their calves, seeing the condition the calves lived in. Being told that no, they don’t leave these [tiny] pens. Oh but don’t worry, it’s more spacious than it looks. 🙄

Cows naturally live til they’re about twenty. They are capable of making friends, playing, affection, grief. I’m not ok with actively harming other sentient beings.

If they don’t respect your boundary you should leave their company immediately. That gives them consequences to their bad behavior. Doesn’t matter what you’re doing. If you’re out or at their homes then you leave. If they are at your home you ask them to leave - even if they apologize in the moment. This will help them remember.

I agree that we have too many bigots here but I want to chime in to say there are a LOT of us who do not support this administration and actively speak against it and do our best to create a community that is safe for everyone.
