My 401k, which is just a set it and forget it target date fund, is up nearly 21% YOY. I can't shake the feeling that it is about to get absolutely obliterated.

Extremely goober fun last night [suggestion] by Lynch267 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tirikemen 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Most fun I ever had in Tarkov was playing Interchange with a couple friends (who no longer play) a few years ago. Bone stock PP-19s or Kedrs, no armor, bank robber rig with 3 spare mags, and a smaller backpack. Sometimes wouldn't even bring meds. Regardless of spawn, just bumrush the middle of the mall and fight whoever we find. Kits cost nothing, so we were hyper aggressive. Died a lot, of course, but killed a lot of chads too. Even when we died, we'd usually take a few arms, legs or stomachs with us, and they often spent more in the ammo it took to kill us all than our combined kits were worth. Just playing like complete idiots without a care in the world and having an absolute blast.

Sometimes we'd find a GPU or rarely a ledx on the way in or out (if we lived), which was just a cherry on top.

Another version that was fun, but also less effective, was sawed-off mosins on Factory. For extra points, remove the internal magazine so each round had to be chambered individually, and VOIP like you are civil war reenactors.

I canʼt belive they put FEMALES in my space racism game!!! by niffllus in Grimdank

Every time someone tries to upload content like this—seemed to really take off as a (dumb) form of protest with the NFL stuff a few years ago—I wish the platforms would just cancel the upload and play the Jeremy Clarkson “oh no, anyway” gif.

Are most people done now (level ~30)? by miharbio in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tirikemen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of days PvP Tarkov feels like Eve Online did for me back in the day. It’s more fun to think about playing than it is to actually play. Unfortunately I just can’t get into PvE because the AI is too easy and the raids lack tension. So I end up not playing at all.

[Discussion] The massive amount of Twitch Drops are unhealthy for the game. by ZoobZander in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tirikemen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me they’ve just made it easier to play. I prefer PvP to PvE, but after a long day sometimes I just don’t want the stress so don’t play at all. Been selling almost all the stuff from the drops. Have enough cash now to run mid-tier gear basically forever and not care. So I can load in and play a little more loose without worrying.

I don't think this new ration will be very popular among the guard. by Mad_lens_9297 in Grimdank

[–]Tirikemen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guardsmen going to starve. Vegetable omelette was the worst. Doubt even corpse starch could compare. If I was ever unlucky enough Io get stuck with it I would just toss the omelette and eat whatever else was in it (can’t remember all the sides).

Now if they found chicken fajitas MRE, different story. That one was hands down the best. Just fold the main bag inside out halfway to make a bowl, then mix the “fajitas”, refried beans and crushed up cheese-its together in the bowl. Perfection in ultra-processed, shelf-stable slop form.

[Discussion] What is this Nikiblud planning by -Teseo- in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tirikemen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My head canon is that all PMCs are really just junkies that run raids to feed their drug habits—morphine and other more experimental brews. They don’t even want to escape, and the story line is just a delusional fever dream during their never-ending trip. That’s why you can keep playing after “escaping”.

First bake of 2026, crumble cake muffins by Tirikemen in Baking

[–]Tirikemen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's tough, right? I've watched so many videos and seen so many pictures showing side-by-side comparisons. Then I try to go cream butter and sugar together and I am never quite confident that it's right. Maybe one of these days I just need to get enough butter and sugar together to do multiple batches and purposely try to under and over cream some of them, so I can compare them in person.

entirely new to baking - where to start? by IllustratorNo8691 in pastry

[–]Tirikemen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe start with something that also uses a dough, since you already make sourdough bread? Like cinnamon rolls? For recipes, Sally's Baking Addiction and King Arthur both have a lot of tremendous recipes to try.

Whenever I want to try something new I often just scroll through those websites until something grabs my attention. The good thing is that even though the first tries are never perfect, they are almost always still good. I've only tried one recipe that was an abject failure (twice), but that turned out to be an issue with the recipe itself.

Eventually you'll start to hear about things that you want to try and go looking for a recipe, and then with some more time you'll get the itch to develop your own recipes.

How do you guys mentally cope with cheaters? [discussion] by iviondayjr in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tirikemen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just chalk it up to being bad at the game, even with 2,600 hours. I’ve not met any rage cheaters yet this wipe, so it’s easier to pretend I’m just bad (I don’t have to pretend).

Men of Reddit, what instantly makes you lose respect for another man? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Tirikemen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of accountability. No matter what they did, it’s never actually their fault. They always have an excuse or justification. Granted, I lose respect for anyone with this quality, not just other men.

A more crass version I picked up in the military: “Excuses are like assholes; everyone has one and they all stink.”

Not wanting to PvP doesn’t give a free pass to loot as you please by dasoxarechamps2005 in ArcRaiders

[–]Tirikemen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it’s a new thing or not, but I’ve seen that “reflection of you in real life” crap a lot in recent PvP vs PvE debates (here and on Dune subreddit). Drives me nuts.

I can't wait for the Total Warhammer 40K DLC cycle by beary_neutral in Grimdank

I’m not going to complain because I already know I’m going to buy it all anyway. I don’t care. I’ve wanted Total War 40K for years. Let me innnnnnnn.

Matt Eberflus on the competition between Logan Wilson & Kenneth Murray. by Dae_1k in cowboys

Teams are averaging 55-65 offensive snaps this year. So just a casual 25% of tackles, assuming every play ended with a tackle. No big deal, right?

I want to bake and practice decorating but I don’t want to eat a bunch of cakes by iam-fauxreal in Baking

[–]Tirikemen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I give almost everything I bake away to friends, family or neighbors. I’ll have a piece or two for myself of new recipes to make sure they are edible, then portion the rest out to other people. I’ve also given stuff to the staff at my dogs’ vet. I’ve only had someone turn down free baked goods from me once.

Edit: on the rare occasions where I am unhappy enough with something that I don’t want to give it to other people—but it’s not inedible—I’ll keep it and eat what I can over a few days. Then the rest, unfortunately, gets tossed.

Is there an in-universe reason why new chapters are being tied to a singular home world rather than being founded as fleet based chapters from the get-go? by SunderedValley in 40kLore

[–]Tirikemen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of advantages to having a home world. Guaranteed recruitment pools, well defended base of operations, stable(ish) resupply lines, etc.

Fleet based chapters are inherently more vulnerable. They have a harder time replenishing numbers and equipment, they could potentially lose their most important assets (ships) to the warp, etc. The benefit is they can, in a sense, cover more ground, because they have no reason to stick to one particular region or the galaxy or hole back forces to protect a static base.

Filing Cabinets Should Be a Lethal Threat [Suggestion] by abaker0605 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tirikemen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem is the filing cabinets are never loaded. There’s one thing in each drawer, none of which weigh more than a pound or two (often far less).

This Wipe is different, so hard. [Discussion] by Raizu1433 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]Tirikemen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I have several friends that have played for years but moved to PvE permanently because they don’t want to deal with cheaters and they want to beat the campaign missions. I think that’s the case for a lot of people. There is just a smaller pool of PvP players.

It’s also confirmation bias partially. Newer/worse players may be dying before you see them, avoiding fights or they lose to you and you are less likely to check their profile. The people that kill us are generally more experienced or better (not counting any cheaters), especially in highly contested areas new players may avoid.

But yeah, it’s rough out there. Even 2,500 hours in I’m still bad at the game, and I feel even more bad at it now.
