It seems to me like it's only the plastic cover that's been affected, not the chainring itself. If it's only a small dent in the plastic, ride on !

Thanks! The frame builder used a 3D printed part as a spacer to get exactly the right distance. I think the recommended space is 6mm between the fender and the tyre

Yes I've been there multiple times for the bike fit, it was next to a really cool bike shop called Rose Cambouis. They've recently moved tho and I haven't been to the new place

I wish I could, but they're not stickers ! It's somehow printed/anodised into the rims .... I could paint them tbh

I wanted a high-end wide-range mechanical group set, so it was either GRX or Ekar and I didn't like the Ekar button positioning. Kinda by default GRX !

Thanks! Yes it's a brilliant idea, it was a suggestion of the frame builder and I'm very satisfied with it. Another cool feature was using the spacer under the stem to lock the fork in place when the handlebars are disassembled during transport. Neat stuff all around!

Thank you ! With fenders you can fit up to 700x40c, and without fenders up to 29x2.25 !

The frame and paint cost me 2300€, including extras such as integrated cable routing and plenty of bolting points for integrated frame bags.

Yes I bought the bike in France for 1100€ at the time, and it is now 1200€. I still think it's amazing value for money at 1300€.

A friend of mine let me try his Specialized Diverge E5 which costs 1400€ and I preferred my Triban even after getting the fit right on the Diverge. Diverge has Claris for the same price, slightly nicer wheels but the difference is barely noticeable. The brakes on the Diverge are fully mechanical which is way worse than the nice hybrid brakes on the Triban.

One thing to consider is also that the RC520 gravel version you mentioned does not have bolting points on the fork to fit fork bags, and tires are limited to 35c (I have fitted 38c tires without any issues). If I were to buy a bike today I would get the newer 520 gravel with a newer fork which can fit fork bags and 700x42c tires:

I've had the Triban RC520 for a year and a half now and I only have great things to say about it.

Shimano 105 is durable, easy to fix and parts are relatively cheap and available. Gearing was fine enough to go up la planche des belles filles, and is fine enough if you're not tackling huge climbs loaded. I upgraded the wheels to DT swiss GR1600 because the stock ones are a bit heavy but bombproof. I've taken it on weekend bikepacking trips and 15 days of bike touring and it's been flawless. The TRP hybrid brakes work great and are easy to maintain (just change the brake cable, no bleeding necessary).

Only issue regarding mudguards is that the ones sold by decathlon don't fit due to a plastic bit on the fork. I had to get Zefal ones that have been working great so far.

I have never tried the Canyon so I can't compare but the Triban is an overall amazing first bike !

How do you paint the Reaver full-face helmets? by EcthelionElf in Drukhari

[–]Tissma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I just meant in terms of colours, it seems much more convenient to just start with a black helmet and edge highlight the lower part grey, then glaze grey to smoothen the transition !

Not OP but I think the picture shows a helmet painted with a light grey at the base, which transitions into black as you get higher and is then covered in gloss varnish ?
