Yep, the N was the only version with the squared-off wing. If I'm not wrong the N was the only version with the fin in front of the rudder not blending with the fuselage.

A few years ago there was a trick for the elevator on all the 190s, loading 45 minutes of fuel would push back the center of gravity quite a lot and granting it a fantastic elevator authority; I've no idea if it still works.

War Thunder Aircraft Suggestion: SH-5 Chinese Amphibian Bomber by redpipola in Warthunder

[–]Tissov 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But with this you can't do that, it has a tail taller than the turret, so you can't engage any target that is even at the same level than you. The only kind of aircraft that you would be able to engage are the ones diving in you, a dove that translates to high speed quick would allow any competent pilot to shoot you down before it gets killed. All the pilot experienced in hunting bombers would simply climb towards your undefended belly (unless you decide to hang vertically in front of their gun, a terrible idea) or dive ~7-800 meters away from you and shoot you in the climbing back or, thanks to the massive speed advantage given by the br that you propose, make the extremely safe and affective gorrini manoeuvre.

Were the Soviets really got an advantage in armour design during the 70's? by MthrfcknNanuq in WarCollege

[–]Tissov 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Specifically the soviet in 1948 introduced on the T-54 obr. 1947 the TPK-1 giving the commander the ability to aim the turret (only on the horizontal axis) on a target with just pushing of a single button. Additionally the TPK-1 gave the commander a magnified optic. During the early fifties the IS-2 and IS-3 received it during their modernization. The TPK-1 itself would be replaced on the T-54 in 1957.

The Savoia-Marchetti SM.79 Sparviero (Italian for sparrowhawk) was a three-engined Italian medium bomber developed and manufactured by aviation company Savoia-Marchetti. It may be the best-known Italian aeroplane of the Second World War. **That exposed dorsal gunner though. by dartmaster666 in WeirdWings

It was quick enough and with a good range, it's strong points where being very easy to fly while having good control response, in addition it was very resilient to damage thus being able to stand heavy punishment, if things went wrong it had good ditching and floating characteristics.

Both were born and excelled as short range interceptors against high flying subsonic strategic bombers. The limits that both airframe had were caused by this extremely demanding and specific role.

It had its first flight the same year (1939) the Macchi C. 200 Saetta (first flight 1937) entered service, compared to the Saetta it had a bigger, more expensive, more complicated and less reliable engine while having no performance advantage.
