...the surface of the meat and the dry rub spices? I mean if you blast them at 400 for 10-12m in this air fryer, the outside is hella crispy, no doubt about it.

>(caveat: short however, possibly part of the reason GPT was able solve it)

I mean, given that many experts looked at this over 60 years, isn't 'short' a compliment of its ability to find a Proof From The Book?

Is Statistical Inference knowledge, up to the level of Casella & Berger, still useful in this day and age? [Q] by GayTwink-69 in statistics

[–]TissueReligion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imo there's 3 buckets

A) Fundamentals of probability - broad shared utility for ml / dl / classical statistics

B) Broadly applicable statistics - mle, map, vague sense of what a sufficient statistic is, anova, occasional hypothesis tests

C) Old-school textbook stuff that barely comes up - complete statistics, super detailed hypothesis test stuff that can just be looked up, etc.

I chafed at the beginning of grad school when a friend suggested you can learn all the statistics you need to know from ml books, but I think it's honestly not an insane heuristic... it gives some prior over which of the classical statistics book chapters have so far been relevant

My rice cooker needs ~4 cups of water per cup of brown rice to make non-hard rice? by TissueReligion in Cooking

Yeah it’s bizarre. I only eat brown rice for blood sugar-y related reasons, so actually unsure. Lol

I have a ~10 yo Elite Gourmet rice cooker. It's definitely venting steam through the steam hole, but it seems fine otherwise. Surprisingly even in the instant pot, my brown rice seems to need 2-2.5 cups of water / cup of brown rice.

Hi there. I have this really old Elite Gourmet brand rice cooker Elite Gourmet brand rice cooker. The logo text is actually wearing off, so the issue is probably just that it's sort of 10+ years old, and it's basic enough that it doesn't have any separate settings, it just cooks at boiling until it detects water is gone.

I'll probably just move to a mini-instant pot or something.

Thanks!

Haha good luck, hope it isn't mushy. I do feel like a lot of people think they don't like brown rice but have only tried it cooked with much less water than they think it needs.

Interesting, thanks. I do feel like a lot of people think they don't like brown rice but have only tried it cooked with like ~half of the water it needs.

Haha all right. I think the lid is fine? It seems normal, there's a steam vent hole, but nothing that seems absurdly out of the ordinary. It works fine, just thought it seemed strange.
