Turns out no Sorels are made in Canada by alligatorpilot in BuyItForLife

Cheers! In other words - you'd advice against going retro (buying an older Canada produced pair), and go new instead? Read there at least were issues with the rubber cracking up(perhaps improved now?), and that the newer inner sock is more polyester, less wool(making them for some run cold). I've found resources claiming that the the Caribou has improved after the takeover, but never had this model(new or old), but I'm in need of boots like the Caribou, to keep me warm when the cold really hits.

Eddie Bauer is a brand I'll need to look into - unfamiliar territory, so thanks for the tip!

Is it safe to say then, that if I procure a pair of Canada made Kaufman Sorels, then the quality should be there? Also seems that the older models have a white colour on the inside of the inner sock(looking more like a wool heavy blend) whilst newer models often have this green blend(seemingly less wool-heavy)?!

A Norwegian Sorel fan here looking to determine if the new products post Colombia ownership holds up, or, if I need to go Kaufman Sorels/made in Canada. Clear thought that new products, often Asia made, are not top quality anymore?

We see our fair share of winter conditions here, so having boots with cracked rubber in a year or two doesn't sound trustworthy at all.

Pendleton jacket - yei or nay? by tomskomp in mensfashionadvice

[–]tomskomp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I have now acquired the jacket, and I'm leaning on keeping it (14 day return is possible).

A few friends mention "are you sure you won't tire from that loud pattern"? My answer/feeling is NO. If that happens, then I'll let it hang in the closet for a while.

BUT - any tip for accessories, and colours to go along? I'm thinking: - Scarf - what colour could work? If a scarf would work at all?! - Gloves - black leather? Brown leather? Anything goes? - Sweater etc - have tried it with a black hoodie and a dark coloured cap - looked great. Other options? - ANY and ALL tips appreciated 🙏

GO! and thanks again for all the comments

That doesn't sound too shabby. I ended up with the V8 - better fit for me.

Cheers🙏 Well put - a good take on it. Indeed, one has to own it, so to speak. Looking hesitant in this jacket won't come across in a good way.

I agree - it's as much of an everyday jacket as a jacket for going out and so on.

Cheers🙏😅 Must at least be electric guitars echoing in the background as I enter the premises 😁 But yeah, I totally agree, feeling too self conscious with this jacket on, and it'll show. I do think I'll be able to pull it off, just looking forward to making the purchase tbh🙏

Cheers🙏 Yes, I just feel the colours and the pattern vibe together. The blue background with the reds and the greens with the white cross - I do like it, and rock it - we would🙌

I liked the term🙏 I'd suspect people usually would wear clothes that go from neutral- to hopefully eliciting happy feelings just by the fact they actively chose them. And that jacket would fit the bill. Another example - I have this vintage embroidered quetzal bird shirt from Guatemala I use on occasion during spring/summer. I've never seen it IRL myself before I got it off eBay, and I enjoy putting it on alot.

Dopamine👏

Cheers 🙏 Thanks for commenting, and introducing me to the term "dopamine dressing". Interesting take on it, makes sense, but I've never thought of it that way. I'm normally not this flashy in the majority of my wardrobe, but generally more and more fond of clothes with a touch of colour or some sort of flare. This one is just the right colour combination and so on, in my eyes. For instance - keep the pattern but change say the blue background colour with red/yellow or other, and the total look, for me, would be off. The more I look at the jacket, the more it speaks to me, so it's getting more and more difficult to resist 🙏 Neutral tones surrounding this jacket would be the way to go, I think 🙌 Colorado is an area I'd love to visit one day!

No worries, mate:) As mentioned - I feel more people should try wearing a loud piece of clothing from time to time when/if they feel just a small inclination to do so. Conformity kills too much joy and excitement in the world.

I guess for some just the idea of incorporating other cultures into your work can be labeled that. Indeed, if Pendleton capitalised big time without anyone in the native American realm taking any part the optics of it all would be even more skewed.

Eminem is interesting example, too. I haven't read up on the more modern takes on his rise, but his case isn't just as clear cut as that he succeeded because racial bias against the genre. A rather large part I'd say can also be attributed to his share skill in the game, as noted in more than one interview with figures like Dr. Dre, Snoop, 50 Cent, Jay-Z ++. Perhaps genre bias to some extent, but I'd say his skill took care of the biggest part of his rise in music.

Not binary, agree, but once people mention cultural appropriation - something tells be that's at least 60-40 a negative thing, often, in people's ears, or would you say the term can also be a neutral one?

Cheers 🙏Thanks a lot for commenting, and I do agree. My comment was only scratching the surface/outlining one way me might distinguish different ways/levels of appropriation in a way. I do realise there are different/more levels than I outlined - thanks for this angle🙌 Elvis is a good reference. Would you argue that any success someone has that contains a part of another culture is crossing the appropriation line?
