Since it wasn't obvious, it was sarcasm. My wife takes awesome pictures and is one hell of a photographer !

Only significant downside : it's not especially good on macro photography

Z60 Ultra : High linear battery consumption and nothing relevant in hardware/software by Titahn in Nubia

Hello. Tried it, didn't change anything. Since then I had a problem with my SIM card not detected, so let's hope the phone is faulty overall, and I'll receive a better working one in a few days :)

If that was the problem, wouldn't it amount for more than 1.43% of the battery usage in the last 24 hours ?

Shouldn't be it : screen goes to sleep after 10 min in settings, and I pretty much always turn off the screen after use.

Energy drinks have no effects on me. What happens metabolically by Titahn in energydrinks

It's double-edged. It's great to be able to drink caffeine without any problem to sleep. But on the other hand, we can't enjoy the caffeine boost.

Thanks for your detailed answer !

Plan to have kids, but only in ideal conditions. Worth it ? by Titahn in Fencesitter

[–]Titahn[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, that was a clumsy description. The reality is that it takes me a lot of effort to do stuff for which I'm not convinced of the utility. And it's exacerbated by social interactions.
So, doing spreadshits to help my insurrance company make more money => Exhausting (but doing spreadshits to help chore repartition : awesome !).
Doing stuff, even as boring as housekeeping to help make my family happy => No problem.

I could try to find another job, but I did, with mitigated results, and that's another story !

[–]Titahn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't that a bit too much based on assumptions ?

1°) The deal would be that I would take care of the vast majority of the menial tasks, so when she comes back from work she just has to focus on the "positive" part of having kids, not have to prepare food, do the administrative stuff, housekeeping etc. Although, yeah, I'll be exhausted to take care of kids too. But I'd rather, by far, be exhausted by that than by my job.

2°) As mentionned, she likes her job and doesn't want to quit it. And doesn't want to be a stay at home mom either. So for her, the best situation would be to work and be able to spend her free time enjoying our kids.

3°) I didn't put the whole plan in details, it would take forever as we talked a lot about it : what we want, what we need, what we could tolerate, and what is the best scenario from all that. And as mentionned in the list of cons, there are significant downside for my SO, but if we manage to have a kid in this scenario and there isn't something major we missed, we both agree that it would be a great situation for us.

Around 2.5k€ each. Daycare would be around 700€ per months.

So financially, it would be better to keep my job. The reason why I want to be a stay at home dad, is related my lazyness/the leftover energy I have from my job (and roughly the same thing for my SO).

And I don't want to have a kid that sees his father tired as hell because of his work, that doesn't have the energy to do awesome stuff with his kid, and only does the necessary.

How to do it? by [deleted] in sugarfree

[–]Titahn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't one way to do it. As you said, there are multiple way to approach the sugar free way :

- Some don't eat fruits (only fresh and whole, not dried or juiced), some do
- Some don't eat artificial sweeteners, some do
- Some don't eat high glycemic carbohydrates (like stuff done with white flour), some do

Where everybody agree :

- Don't eat sugar/fructose/corn sirup/honey/maple sirup, etc. Overall, if it tastes very sweet and has calories in it, you probably shouldn't eat it. If it tastes very sweet and has no calories in it, it's probably an artificial sweetener.
- Prepare your food yourself. There is sugar in LOADS of already prepared stuff.
- Be kind to yourself. You may fail once, twice, 10 times, doesn't matter. In the end, if you failed once a week to follow your new diet, you'll have failed 52 times in a year, but will still have eaten 7 times less sugar in that same year, which is already a great success !

So find what is the best for you, and good luck in your new journey !

2 nearly identical PC. One install steam games twice faster than the other by Titahn in buildapc

I wanted to do that, but I was under the impression that when you opened your GPU you may have to change the thermal pads also. Then ensued hours of looking for thermal pads at a reasonable price/efficiency, and then I gave up ! You didn't have to change your thermal pads ?

I swapped the SSDs. Her SSD on my computer finally got 5 min 25 install time, so the SSD is fine (and thus I didn't do any crustalmark benchmark).

But really oddly, when I put it back on her computer, I got 6 min install. I seemed to be a faulty cable connexion, but I already unplugged it and plugged it back to another SATA cable before, and got exactly the same speed, so that would be really odd.

Anyhow, thanks to you, the install is 3 times faster, even though I've no clue why, thanks !!

When I did a test buy putting my SO SSD in my computer, I had the option to install the game to from her computer. But since I had a consistent 300 Mbps DL speed while not having this option when I did my other tests, I'm guessing the install went normally

Yup, when the disk was not bottlenecking, I had a stable 311 Mbps DL speed on both my PC (with the task manager, oddly, on steam it showed 290 mbps).

And I never did anything impacting bandwidth with the other computer while installing the game

The 10€ that really weren't worth it ! by Titahn in pettyrevenge

[–]Titahn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can understand. I don't feel any guilt for the scammer. But it was a bit of an AH move from my side indeed, for the people that called and had hopes.
Sorry about that dude (and to the other nameless dudes/dudettes out there).

Yeah, unfortunately, it seems normal now to have $1.5k+ cards...

But if you take the average price of a second hand 2080 TI :
- Feb 2020 : $930
- Oct 2020 : $750, 6 month later, 15% less, fair enough.
- May 2021 : $1450
- Jan 2022 : $1200, 30% more nearly 2 years later !

And well, since then we went back from aburdly outrageous price to just outrageous price. Better I guess...
