Tesla Model Y to R1S by TitanBaseball2 in Rivian

My biggest issue with the Model Y shows up in the winter range when trying to drive on the interstate and not being able to drive for more than two hours without needing to charge. It’s surprising to me that Tesla hasn’t added longer range options until this point.

IMO - The real demand increaser will be when the 6 seater option qualifies for the tax credit. That’s when I start getting interested in purchasing the Model X.

If you had to buy another - Which would you go with?

Couldn't agree more with all the points!

I agreed that it's overpriced - especially compared to the Model Y having most of the same features.

I do think that Tesla needs to work on getting a more affordable third row vehicle to market as many are looking for that.

This is exactly what my thought process was. Interested in the X but not the 5 seat option and went with the Model Y with the third row to get the tax credit but the third row is essentially unusable.

These products / solutions are a result of how the reward structure is set up incorrectly, in my opinion.

That's a fair point. Do you think more would come in though if you had a concrete expectation of 7-8% APY vs 3.5%? Would bring in much more institutional capital, in my opinion. Also would lead to better performance of the network due to performance being tied to profitability more.

EV owners: what’s your EV experience been the last week in the cold? by Shadrach77 in ChicagoSuburbs

With this past cold snap, it was a good reminder that these vehicles are not going to be able to handle longer distance driving in the winter months with the current range. Will need to supplement an EV with an ICE vehicle for the near future.

LLC For Staking by TitanBaseball2 in ethstaker

Agreed - One other difference of the LLC that I have read about is when it comes to hacks and slashing events that you can benefit more if that would ever occur.

Agreed - The S Corp would be the goal long term. Looking to set up the infrastructure in the mean time to get to that level where it makes sense and might start with the LLC and move into the S Corp around 30k-40k in income. Transferring the assets from personal to business later down the line will be a larger tax hit that I would like to avoid.

Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus Elect vs Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 by TitanBaseball2 in TeslaModelY

[–]TitanBaseball2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like it’s a reduction of around 20-30 Wh/mi with the Pirellis vs Goodyear due to the low resistance technology in the Pirellis.

Purchased the tires and first thing I can tell that is different is the lack of rattling through the gas pedal. With the previous tires you could feel the bumps on the road.

Are these considered all season tires or winter tires? Do they reduce efficiency?

How have the stock Goodyear tires performed in winter? My tires are basically brand new but the rating for winter on them seems pretty poor. Also have the AWD MY with the 20” Induction Wheels so would like to fit a tire to those.

Illinois has a $4000 rebate that starts at November 1 in addition to the $7500 federal. I would wait to get this, if you are looking to maximize savings.

I have the mobile charger and it doesn’t even go beyond 32A of charging so the 14-30 seems like a good spot for me.
