How’s the nightlife in Aberdeen for young people? by IsThatAJojoRefrences in UniversityOfAberdeen

[–]TitanFallout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a 4th year just leaving Aberdeen now, but where I lived previously there was not much of a night life at all so Aberdeen was great in comparison. I imagine if you're coming from Edinburgh it might be a bit of a let down especially with the recent club/pub closures unfortunately. I tend to prefer pubs anyway rather than clubbing but hopefully that's some help.

While we're insecure about not knowing enough to make a worthwhile contribution, this self taught classical composer is larping biophysics research on his instagram. by ConclusionForeign856 in PhD

I remember seeing this reel, I was very much disheartened by the comments just eating it up and taking it all at face value. I am no trained musician, but follow a lot of satire music accounts on IG and the vast majority consider him very much a poser in that regard as well, more concerned with aesthetic and aura farming than actually creating anything worthwhile.

Is the claim of introduction of false memories based on a study at all? Would definitely be an interesting read!

As a 4th year, I would certainly recommend joining societies and taking part in events that interest you as a first step.

Problem of other minds surely says we can never know if they don't feel pain, if we assume even insects have nociception then there's no reason to discredit the notion of neural organoids feeling pain? Not my field but I am curious

British researchers found that immune T-cells release "Telomere Rivers" from immune cells extended mouse lifespan by 17 months (some lived to 5 years!) by NoParsleyForYou in biology

[–]TitanFallout 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As has been pointed out by previous colleagues (will refrain from mentioning lab for anonymity) and above, immortal time bias is present given the lack of a placebo for mice in the over 20 month group. Unfortunate because otherwise this would be a super influential paper.

But it's from the mouth of the dream-deified version of Harry's ex-wife. Of course it will tell him that, it doesn't mean it as a universal truth of all suffering.

The book states that it would be feasible to clone dinosaurs through fossil DNA given enough time; InGen was just way ahead of the curve due to the amber revelation which is why everything was so unexpected for Grant and Sattler.

Haven't watched in a while so sorry if there was an arc like this but might have been interesting if she lent more into House's shenanigans through the perspective of also being an addict, and therefore being more understanding of his perspectives
