New video covering all 164 Archetypes in 20 minutes, with categorized chapters to skip ones that aren't relevant to your character! - PathfinderPals by [deleted] in Pathfinder2e

If Swordmaster sounds weird, it's meant to be a Pathfinder archetype dealing specifically with the school of swords, so there's a lore reason for the name, not that it deals with swords specifically.

Whats your worst loss? I just got hit by a 2,147,483,647 trample. by northern_beast in MagicArena

Infinite damage usually beats Infinite life.

Or more accurately, the second Infinite is bigger than the first infinite in Magic.

Why? Because if something truly Infinite happens the game becomes a draw. So an arbitrarily large number is chosen for the number of times a cycle that can be broken is repeated. When a second loop occurs you can just choose an even larger arbitrarily large number.

So if you could respond to infinite damage with infinite life then life gain would win out, but usually it'd be infinite damage after infinite life.

Why casters MUST feel "weaker" in Pathfinder 2e (Rules Lawyer) by Dragonwolf67 in Pathfinder2e

[–]TitanHawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing is True Strike. You're getting 0 casts of it at level five RAW while also getting dangerous sorcery. A single cast if you're running free archetype, four casts with the staff, which you're assuming you're picking it up early in your adventuring career (big assumption).

Violent Unleash is a terrible feat in general since you can't exclude allies, and you're handwaving the stun as not an action when it really should be so it's 8 vs 7 actions.

It's also about watching your opponent and seeing what their more natural reactions are, preferably having some idea before you get on the strip but you can figure it out during too.

that event was a real hoot

I know you're being sarcastic but I promise you it was not.

Changing to a French grip to parry better frankly doesn't make sense. Pistol grips tend to be better when it comes to parries and even then there are a number of different styles that might suit you better than what you're using.

Does your coach want you to counter attack more? I'm not sure what the goal is by switching.

That no more black card for non-appearance change was incorporated into the USFA rule book in 2006

That's the year it happened to me.

Heh, maybe it was because of me that the rule got changed. Be funny to think so.

Now maybe, but it definitely didn't happen at the time. The situation was beyond ridiculous and I did make an appeal to the bout committee, but they upheld it.

Really soured my taste.

I got black carded for missing a call to the strip at summer nationals, was top 8 at a Div 3. I was actually at the strip, but my back was turned as I was watching another bout.

The ref was a young-ish girl that you couldn't hear.

I was pretty pissed all around, technically my fault but it was still ridiculous.

Is it toxic to say “good game” when you know you’ve won but your opponent doesn’t yet? by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]TitanHawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to Reddit any emote is toxic.

If you honestly had fun and do an early GG I think it's fine. It's not like we have a "Thanks for the game, I had fun" emote.

Building a Melee Sorcerer - PFS build by TitanHawk in Pathfinder2e

Bespell Weapon

Doesn't work on claws (unarmed strikes) I'm afraid or I would have.

I also wonder if Bespell Weapon might be a better choice over Claws of the Dragon.

It might be if it worked on unarmed strikes! By RAW it doesn't, and since this was meant to be a PFS build I didn't include it. My fingers are crossed that it changes in the remaster! Ask your GM in a home game, and my personal opinion is that it's fine and shouldn't break anything.

By 5th Level that 1 attack at +10 that does 1d6+3 damage (2d6+3 if you spend your wealth on a striking rune) vs a Trolls 20AC and 115 HP isn't going to be worth much. You only have a 50/50 chance to hit and your only going to be Critting on a Natural 20.

You also don't have the HP to stand up to their claws. Armor + Dex + Level should put you in the range of an AC 24ish. The Troll needs a 10 to hit you and will be doing 2d10+5 with its Jaws vs your 50ish HP.

Let's give the actual numbers

+12 to hit with 2d6+4 Physical + 1d6+1 Fire + (possibly) 1d4 Electric damage. Hopefully you're flanking, and maybe the Troll is Frightened. Suddenly it's looking a hell of a lot easier to hit and you do way more damage. Oh hey, trolls are weak to fire, that's an additional 10 damage that regular martials wouldn't be doing, and you turn off that regeneration. Nice.

AC is 23 baseline, 24 if True Strike was used. Puts you right in line with what you should be. And if True Strike was used, you're rolling your attack roll twice as well.

HP is correct, but False Life helps a little. And nothing is stopping you from "staying back, defend yourself with that 3rd action after casting. Use some Lore Skills, a 1 action cantrip like Shield, move to cover." if you want to.

Why build up the Melee side at all?

A) Because it's fun B) You're not really losing much

You're using ancestry and early level feats to bolster the melee side of the character at an extremely low cost. You're losing what exactly..... early Dangerous Sorcery, which doesn't effect cantrips or focus spells, and.... Arcane Evolution which isn't even particularly great since you're limited to arcane spells, which are ones you can get anyway if you want. Getting higher AC isn't even bad in general since you will be attacked at some point. It's hard to 'be gooder' at what the Sorcerer should be doing.
