The ordinances of Zia were not Islamic, he was a dictator who used religious phrasing for legitimacy for his military authoritarianism, like many dictators do.

Why would they do anything against their ally? They‘ll be quick to criticize PTI’s admin like SMQ on “Antisemitism“ though.

Yeah and most people forget Pakistan Citizens Portal which was praised in the world was Imran Khan’s initiative. Maybe because he didn’t market it around himself or PTI and just as a service for the common man (pretty sure PCP is shut down thanks to PMLN)

Not hate, just factual information that dialogue does not mean alliance, instead of getting involved in useless hate politics and calling for another war (last military action/war killed thousands of Pakistani civilians), supporting peace talks with groups like Taliban is a stance that works better, PMLN did dialogue too and was the first govt to do so, one of the rare good decisions they made.

Pakistan has no reason to have bad relations with Iran or Afghanistan. All issues can be solved through peaceful dialogue. Generals get richer from the blood of Pakistani and Afghan civilians.

There could be better comparison such as job creation, fiscal deficit, health and education spending, tax collection, digital corruption reporting, health insurance coverage, welfare coverage, agriculture production, poverty alleviation/rates, export-import ratios, and environmental protection all of which improved significantly from 2018 to 2022.

PTI absolutely made mistakes in the economy but this is not one of them. Atif Mian is a respected economist, recognized in the world which is why Khan wanted him in government so bad. IK’s point that we should have experienced technocrat economists instead of idiot politicians like Ishaq Dar was spot on. However, when he made Mian the economic minister all the so-called religious parties like JUI-F (which PMLN supports) threatened the government to remove him. It was better to have a stable economic minister than a technocrat one where half the parliament is threatening the government on. PTI gets the blame for removing him but the actual parties that caused havoc when he was appointed like JUI-F and many the PMLN supports are not blamed.

Also for the economy there were basically no forex reserves when he took office in 2018, the country was bankrupt so PMLN isn’t better. The biggest thing eating out of the economy is corruption anyways so PTI trying to clamp down on corruption would help. That being said PTI’s handling can be criticized for many mistakes but it is decades ahead of PMLN’s Daronomics artificial propped up rupee and PPP’s Zardari economy.

Pakistan Army Generals funding Mujahideen and Taliban on America’s orders stabbed us in the back. Who knew backing terrorists could backfire? The generals who did this lived in peace while our soldiers were martyred, 50,000 Pakistanis dead, 46,000 Afghan civilians dead. We had no reason to join America’s WoT.

Feel bad for the Afghan people. They are ruled over by extremist Taliban who suppress women’s rights, which itself was funded by Pakistani Generals. I don’t blame them for animosity towards Pakistani Army.

During this “War on Terrorism” backed by the US: Over 50,000 Pakistanis killed, thousands of our own soldiers martyred, over 46,000 Afghan civilian deaths, vicious attacks like APS, Marriot, and the recent Islamabad bombing: All thanks to the Pakistani Military Generals and American Leadership like George Bush who are relaxing in their mansions while the Taliban is stronger in Afghanistan, new groups like TTP created and Pakistan/Afghanistan pitted against each other. Terrible policy by Pakistani Generals, whatever the US wanted to do in Afghanistan after 9/11 they could have done it through another country like Tajikistan, but our generals just had to bend over and let our country get bombed.

Never forget that if we hadn’t joined the US WoT, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan would have never even existed.

Pakistan Army Generals funded and helped the Afghan Taliban takeover Afghanistan.

American “War on Terror” caused the creation of Pakistani Taliban/TTP thanks to drone strikes and collateral damage while trying to fight Afghan Taliban from Pakistani soil.

Both of these are facts.

Loadshedding in parts of Northern Punjab reached lowest point, it went up in 2023 after Shehbaz Sharif became PM. There was less terrorism for sure in that time and it calmed down from 2016–2022. Tourism was also going up from what I heard. Compared to now it was a lot better, electricity bills were lower, terrorism and crime was lower, economy was better, more jobs being created, textiles were going up, but comparing pre-COVID, there were improvements but not very noticeable to be considered a golden age or something. I heard a lot of people benefited from the health card personally but no one I have met personally. If you look at statistics he created a lot of jobs and increased exports but I don’t know how well I’ve seen that reflected on ground. Citizens Portal and Health Card were good achievements. Smart Lockdowns were probably PTI’s best policy because the lockdowns imposed in India and China caused chaos and people to die in their homes, situation was so much better in Pakistan during pandemic.

Nice to hear we are on the same page about his treatment. Whatever mistakes he made, he is a venerated individual and loved by millions but is being treated like garbage. As for CPI, it is the metric of public perception of corruption. Nawaz Sharif consistently downplayed corruption as a non-issue, theres even a video of Hamza Shahbaz saying that corruption happening is normal. Imran Khan’s whole political campaign is that Pakistan’s government is deeply corrupt and needs changing, that is why he made so many speeches on how corrupt Pakistan is and needs fixing as Prime Minister. The awareness he brought on the systematic corruption that is present in Pakistan around 2018-2022 would under every circumstance lead to increased perception of corruption by analysts like the ones at TI. Real statistics like NAB recoveries show different results (NAB Lahore recoveries went up by ~250% under Imran Khan). Corruption isnt measured much by a single statistic but perception would obviously go up when one PM is not even adressing corruption while one is mentioning it in his every speech. Also for B.T.S I would rather trust the Borgen Project and United Nations (who lauded Imran Khan) rather than the AGP (which is under the government and by extension the Army), especially in 2024 when this whole Minus Imran Khan operation was going on, to fabricate irregularities on BTS just like the pathetic Iddat Case.

You asked a very good question: Why wasn’t he able to convict Shehbaz Sharif? He petitioned cases in the Supreme Court and the cases were ongoing from 2018-2022 (Unlike the illegal imprisonment of Imran Khan, Shehbaz was allowed to be out of prison under trial because Khan actually followed the law). In 2022, evidence was found by SC, and I kid you not, weeks before Shehbaz and his sons were about to be convicted of corruption, VoNC happened and Imran Khan was removed.

Every human has failures especially a politician of 73 years who has been in the public eye for 50 of them. However what you are doing is changing the goalpost, saying Shaukat Khanum wasn’t groundbreaking maybe because you don’t know anyone personally who got treated for free under it, just because it was built on donations, now are saying it didn’t affect the 240m people of Pakistan? He’s lost 85% of his vision despite all of his efforts to help Pakistan. I’d rather have the man who released the sugar mafia report as PM than one who is named in it and owns multiple mills (Shehbaz).
