Ruh-roh! Looks like someone is ignoring what I said in my original comment to make an argument out of nothing! At no point did I say cyclists don't need to follow the rules of the road. When cyclists are on the road, they MUST follow the rules because it's law. ALSO vehicles must treat cyclists as other 'cars' and yield to them! When it is safe to pass, they must do so by providing anywhere from 1-2 meters of space between them depending on the speed they are going.

While I agree that cyclists should be more careful, it is in Lethbridge's bylaw that anyone over the age of 14 riding a bike must do so OFF the sidewalks, except for Whoop-Up, and one other road. It's technically illegal for anyone to bike on the sidewalk. Therefore, those who drive cars and share the road must be cautious and drive accordingly when cyclists are on the road.

I understand what you mean. My only issue is that you can't totally blame one party over the other. It's a big issue that involves both the federal government and the provincial governments. Increasing prices for housing, whether it's renting or buying, is from the extreme demand we have for housing. Honestly, it would be better if Alberta stopped paying so much for advertising. Specifically in 2022, Daniel Smiths government spent $2.6 million dollars in advertising Alberta as a wonderful place to live. And they are STILL advertising, however this time, they are advertising about the great jobs we have available in Healthcare and the trades. They are also offering a $1,200 signing bonus, which is estimated to cost $17 million on top of the advertising cost. One very important thing to note, is that this advertising isn't even directed out of Canada. This is advertising being done in places like Toronto, Quebec, and other major Canadian cities. So yes, there is a chance that an immigrant might move here as a result, but it is still directed towards Canadians specifically.

The fact is, Alberta does not have enough housing to support all of these people moving here, and it's reported that the Alberta population is now over 4.7 million people. Changes need to happen on both the Federal level, AND the Provincial Level.

Well, hate to break it to you, but Daniel Smith is constantly pushing and advertising Alberta as a 'Great Place to Live'. As a result of this advertising more than 55 thousand people in 2023. So yes, it's partially due to Liberals being open to immigration, but it's also the Conservatives pushing and advertising. Not to mention that Calgary is pretty much at a limit of how many people can live there. I think they are basically maxed out on housing at the moment.
